I heard there was a Supra in a Japanese racing series that ran a 3SGE... I don't know if they converted it to turbo or not, but what are the advantages of the 3SGE vs. it's turboed brethren?

Is that a crate motor, or was it a factory option? I wouldn't mind staying N/A if power like that was more feasible with Toyota engines.

    EDIT: nevermind... found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-...ryZ33615QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

in jgtc, the supra used 3s-gte in their gt300 class which is limited to 300hp. most likely a 2nd gen 3s-gte because those are stronger. i thought of using 3s-ge as opposed to 3s-gte simply because it's FWD's traction problems. just to get the feels for it without swapping, drive your car in the rain and turn while accelerating. thats basicly how it feels to drive a turbocharged FWd. when boost kicks in, the unpleasant feeling of not being able to steer called torque steer will occur. i never liked torque steer and never will so keepin the car NA would make the car ideal for me. i believe the engine came in late model sw20's in japan but only very limited numbers.

i've also been asked why 3s-ge instead of 2zz-ge. well... torque. there probably is a way to achieve more power and torque from 2zz-ge, i just dont know it yet. so until i find out how, without turbocharging it, i'll just stick with 3s-ge.

    That is a chop right?

The car I was talking about wasn't a JGTC Supra, it was actually Top Secret show car equipeed w/ a 2.2L 3S-GE w/ a turbo. I read about it the March 06 Super Street, p. 118. Apparently it weighs less than the 2jz and takes up less space, but without all the work on the internals and boring it out to 2.2L, it wouldn't make nearly as much power as the 2jz.
