I got auto also cause couldn't find a manual with power everything and sunroof. Hopefully swapping it buy the summer to manual. I don't really mind the auto cause I can drive while doing other things like talkin on the cell or eating or something like that. Even though its convenient I'll rather have manual.

I've got an automatic...i didn't have a choice though 'cause it was a FREE hand-me-down. It doesn't really bother me that much 'cause a) i'm not all that great at driving a manual and b) i can be alot more relaxed when i drive.

plus nobody really knows though 'cause of my shift knob and boot

You could probably fool a 12 year old girl, but beyond that...

If someone couldn't tell that you drive an automatic after looking at that shiftboot, they must be shit retarded or a major newbie to anything related to cars.

its not even the boot that gives it away thou, shape of the trim piece.

Automatics are retangular and manuals are more square

Even so, you have to give the man props for the job - I wouldn't even think of going that far to hide my automatic.

switching between a "fake manual" with a boot and a normal auto is pretty easy...just learn to stick the car in D without looking...lol

I think I do a pretty good job mine. I have it mainly because the stock shifter looked ugly as hell.

Thanks. The trick is to get the right sized boot. Also, everyone elses seems to sit a lot higher than mine.

Umm, there will never be a sustitute or a replacement for a manual transmission. And since 95% of America has become lazy and no longer wants to shift gears, the manual transmission is really dieing. I spent 6 months trying to find a car that I could actually see myself in. The Honda dealership I work at no longer buys manaul anything. If we got the occasional S2000 or the Accord Type R we would have a six speed. But that is as far as it goes.

Hm, that's interested. I recently heard that the number of people driving manual transmissions has gone up recently. Well in California anyways.

i wouldn't even bother with it, mine went out, got it fixed by toyota, went out again 2 weeks later. not worth having my car in shop even though its under warranty just for a light. but odds are its a defect in some of our cars and just changing the bulb didn't help.

When I worked there in 2004, we got 3 S2000 total, 1 SI and 1 Accord Type R. Othere than that every thing on the lot was automatic. You would be surprised how rare they are actually becoming, at least in GA.

    Automatic, unfortunately.

My parents bought it for me, and they wanted me to have an auto. I also didn't quite know just how slow 4 gears are compared to 5 (or 6). We got an impressive deal on the car though, given that all the other cars we were looking at were asking at least $4,000 more.

I have plans to either swap in a manual tranny (when I have money and a second car, lol) or build the automatic tranny. It won't ever be as fast as a manual, because of the gearing, but you can do quite a bit.

Since almost everyone here drives auto, I recommend you visit www.levelten.com to see what you can do to help things out a bit. The single best thing you can do is get a torque converter with a higher stall rating, to help out your launching.

just for the heck of it, i started counting how many times i shift gears this morning. i started counting after the traffic jam. i usually have to line up at least 20 mins. each day. so after the line up and all the way to my parking space at work, i counted 65 times - give or take a few. :) so i figure if i add in the 20 mins. line up and from my house to where the line up started, i probably did at least 120 times (total) this morning for my 45 min. drive to work. :)

i wish i have an auto. i regret buying the manual.
it's fun to drive and save gas and all... but driving the car daily in bumper to bumper traffic is tiring. i got stuck in traffic for 2.5hrs last week when it snowed!can't remember how many hundred times i shifted during the 2.5hrs.

no more manual for my next car.
