basically yes, it is the same engine used in the Levins and Marino's

i had only 8PSI on the first original engine with a 12.1 -1 ratio and never had any problems just it had no low end power at all. only once it hit 4K and up it picked up very quickly if that cylinder went out check out the PVC and the VVT-i sensor as it is located atop the engine block next to the intake camshaft, check the screen and clean if necessary, it workd the timing on the car and messes up the computer if it is dirty,I have no idea why Toyota wired it like it bu they did.

I think I'm going to vent to atmosphere, although the idea of running it back into the exhaust to retain a vacuum on the system sounds interesting. First time I've heard of that.

01rollaS, did you get my PM about wanting 2 sets of normal rear rotors for Steve and myself?

you need a vacuum source on the pvc, it's what keeps the air flowing through the valve cover to pull the vapors off. you can open air the front opening since that is just where it pulls in the fresh air, but in order for it to work properly, the pvc needs a vacuum source.

I'll just keep my current routing setup, but I think I need a catch can on the crank case vent as well. It looks like oil was coming out that way, which made a mess in the intake system and would make a mess if I vented it to atmosphere. I'm looking at getting this to solve my problems.

Wow, I can't believe how much oil I just poured out from the intake manifold. Anyway, seems like the backfire optimized the intake manifold by blowing apart the acoustic chamber inside, effectively doubling the size of the plenum. Still waiting for slightly warmer weather so that I can remove the head.
