    Yep. That's EXACTLY how the Matrix and This motor began to go. Around 3k rpm it would make a slight knocking sound that made you hope it was coming from the head. But It's not... :(

    I started working on it for a few hours today. It's pretty much all done. Just need fluids and reconnect the exhaust. Can't wait to get back to boostin!

    I wouldn't just change the bearings bro. Usually when a bearing spins, even if it's just slightly, will warp the crank and rod. You could always try it but I hope this isn't your only ride. But if you're going to go that route. You best do it asap before you completely spin that sucker.

    You mean Oversized bearings. You definitely need to regrind the crank with an over sized bearing set.

    Take your pan off. Rod caps. Get yourself a "good" dial caliper and measure the damaged journal several times to make sure they're still even throughout. If it is, then just get the same bearings. There should be a stamp on the side of the bearing reading "A, B or C". Order that from toyota.

    Yeah. You need a full engine rebuild. Redo the bearings and pistons. I'd recommend just buying a used engine bro.
    I don't trust these rebuilt engines people sell. Find a 2005-2008 under 50k miles. It'll be cheaper than buying or having yours rebuilt.

    GET yours at LKQ. They have the biggest inventory, network and best warranty. Their engines come with 6 month 6000mile warranty on parts. If you pay 125 more you get warranty on the labor too. If you pay 225 more you get 12 month 12000 mile warranty on parts and labor.

    Yes it's up and running as of today.. It wasn't the head gasket. LKQ plugged the water jacket with a small plastic plug they usually put on the openings of the engine. They put a plug too small for the port and it fell it. I never saw it because it was already in the engine. Took the water pump, thermostat housing off and saw a small red plastic piece wedged inside deep.
    I fished it out and it's all done. Engine runs effin great!!!

    Engine runs strong. But to get full potential of the superduper. You definitely need a tuning computer. Either piggyback or stand alone. 8th gen works well but still pings. Celice ECU works but the car runs too rich and actually makes the car run slower than the 8th gen.

    There is a great thread on how to tune out LTFTs to get stable closed loop operation. It just takes months!

    Yes definitely, but it is third in line.... I have a busted R154 that I need to some how replace/rebuild, and a busted 7M that needs to be replaced with a 1JZ. Almost ready to do everything, just never pulled/installed an engine before so a little stuck. After that shit is done, I just need to buy a PFC and the 9th gen radiator hose and we can go tuning!!!!!

    Lol I don't feel like taking months to tune my closed loop. I'm thinking about trying the split second AIC. It's only 269 and has decent gains.

    I'm looking for something I can tune using my laptop. That way I can tune actual fuel trip and ignition cells.

    I like the PFC because it's an entry level standalone. It will self tune the idle, idle with accessories, idle with a/c, then it's just a matter of going cell by cell on the dyno. Full control of fuel, timing, and vvt-i.

    AIC1 looks like it's just fuel control, but I bet your timing is too advanced as well when pinging on the 8th gen ECU. Maybe we need to revisit the knock sensor?
