Exhausts are bent that way for many reasons. First reason i heard it was bent that way was to prevent exhaust to get smashed while going up driveways. Another reason is so there are less bends on the exhaust pipe then if it were straight. There's many reasons out there. Those are just the ones i know.

it would be unsafe if he had left it on the jack itself.... having it on flat ground on all jackstands is about as safe as you can get outside of a lift

My car is on 4 jackstands, so how is that not safe

true... i would leave the jack in place as well as use bricks and or wood. try to work as safe as possible.

for a lot of reasons. jacks can fail without warning and jackstands can collapse if not positioned properly. a car can be unstable when it is supported by 4 jack stands.

the best way is to use a lift when you want to lift the whole car.

of course thats the best way, but jackstands wont collapse if theyre locked.... and they wont tip on a flat surface like that unless another car or something runs into it.

i don't know about you but i would not want to be around it if it got hit and came down... bad for your health and your cars. haha

but i agree that it should be pretty safe. i would just use as much support as i could to make it as safe as i could.

you dont want to be around a car getting hit by another car at ANY TIME.... so the same holds true for if its parked or on jack stands.

Those jackstands are rated to hold 4 tons a piece and where not raised at all, they where at the lowest setting so there was no real danger there. I dont think that my car weigh over 16 tons LOL

my mr2 doesn't have the tilted muffler anymore..... went with something new & much better.....
