It's a shame but it's true. I personally don't care whether or not people do, and if I was in a position of hiring people for a job, a tattoo would certainly not be a factor in that decision.

Way I look at it..... If you can walk the walk and talk the talk then who cares if you have tats.

The Dr. that did my surgery has both arms with half sleeves, my normal Dr. has a large tat on her right arm. They both have the degrees and the know-how to do there job and thats all that matters.

It seems to be the general agreement that tats are not that much of an important factor in a person's capabilities. Granted, on the other side of things, if a 6 foot 4 man with 24 inch biceps, a swazi on his wrists and bloody knives tattooed on his neck showed up on my door when I'm looking for a baby-sitter to watch my 5 year old daughter, I might pose a certain hesitancy.

I do agree that people will form their first impression of you partially based on the way you look, that's just human nature. But I think that's all it should be...a first impression. Once the person gets to know you and/or researches your background and credentials, your looks (tats in this case) shouldn't have anything to do with the way you are treated. If someone is gonna hold tats against you, I don't think they are the right friend/colleague/aquaintance to be involved with. Outside of a first impression, people need to open up their minds and realize that each individual has his/her own views and opinions. Like rolla02 said, you can have a bunch of tats but still be the best at what you do or perform your job outstandingly. People need to open up their minds and realize that in this day in age, tats are just an interest and an art form and not always a sign of rebellion, those days are in the past. For some reason though, there will always be ppl that look down upon ppl with tats.

First impressions are very important to me, that's why I don't get along with one of the managers at my work. He has ruined it with a few people now, all by having a bad first impression.

I'm talking about looks as a first impression. Attitude is one thing but the way you look is another. I think attitude is MUCH more important than the way someone looks. You kind of reiterated my point that people should be judged by their personality and attitude and not their looks (again in this case tats).
