Insurance differences between N/A and TT supra's are almost nothing. Enough that its not even a factor in deciding b/t the two.

Alright, I have made a choice. I want the 2003 Toyota Supra TT. If anyone runs accross one that is a good deal that can't jump on it themselves please PM me. I'm going to watch for a good deal over the next year so if you see a deal and can't jump on it yourself toss me a bone.

    Thanks...

Take the Supra over the VR4 hands down. Besides relaibility, mods, shit tranny, etc the VR4 is a heavy bitch. I wouldnt even consider it, even over a nice N/A Supra. there are lots of things to keep in mind with the Supra though. It all comes down to what your plans are for it, and how much money you can put up. A Turboed N/A is fine if you dont plan on making big power, since the W58 tranny is weak, and a Getrag / Turbo rear swap isnt easy or cheap. You would however have the option of a built Auto to swap. ALso, top speed in the N/A is going to be limited due to a different rearend and gearing. That said, the N/A 2JZ is by no means weak, and is capable of holding close to if not as much as the GTE. Also, Targa tops will be easier to find and cheaper, and check for leaks with those. A Targa will also have alot more chassis flex than the Hardtop, which is especially important if you're planning on doing any road racing. In all honesty, if you have no experience driving a RWD car, then get an N/A. Im a regular on Supraforums and I see FAR too many TT's totalled because of stupid / inexperienced drivers. If you do, then disregard my comment. And just an FYI, there is no 1993 Toyota Supra, its actually designated as 93.5. There are some differences between the 93.5 and later models. I believe most changes were made post 95' but im not sure. If its high mileage, check to ensure the Crank pulley is in good shape, as they have a tendency to fail on the 2JZ as the rubber wears / hardens. I know Boostlogic makes an aftermarket pulley.

Keep in mind with the TT that power is very limited on the Stock twins, and that this is even moreso on a higher mileage 93.5 as you wont be able to boost nearly as much on high mileage twins. After a few BPU mods you either stay at that power level or go Single....... or spend a TON on the HKS Twins, which are like $10K+ IIRC.

Ive got alot more I could say, I.E. differences b/t N/A & TT etc. but this is pretty long already. Anyways, a 93.5 TT should run say $20 - $25K. Definately check out Supraforums and MKIV.com

Don't get me wrong, the Supra is the most beautiful piece of automotive machinery ever made. And pound for pound the Supra is 1000x better, faster and cooler than the 3000GT...except w/ respect to AWD launch. A buddy of mine had a VR-4 running around 400 hp...you can rev the thing all the way up, dump the clutch, and you won't even hear a chirp.
