they can go pretty loud, I can run them with my kenwood radio perfectly.... they do crap out at the high end, nothing a highpass filter wouldn't give them more high end capability

but it's better to just upgrade them all...

there's so many good n cheap speakers and some SWEET speakers for a decent price it's a sin to just not upgrade

Agreed. I just don't care enough about my car to upgrade them. I'd rather just save my money for a new car, but I'll consider speaker upgrades if I find a killer deal on 4 new speakers.

ok thanks i guess i will start looking at some speakers soon. thought of doing this for awhile because i have upgraded my deck and have a sub in the back.

for those of you who have done a speaker install is it a basic install or are their any weird run ins that i should prepare for.

some plastic thingy that you slip around the exposed wires
you heat it up with a heat gun or a match and it creates a seal...

    or just electrical tape-it

they must have changed the speaker size from the 7th to 8th gen, my 7th gen had 6.5 rear and 5.25 up front.

the honda is baller though with 6x9 in the rear and 6.5 in the front

your right about the size up front...however the website said that a 6.5 can fit in the space that they give you.

Odd... when I took out my stock front speakers, they were only 4"

I know you can fit larger ones in there

ok so i installed my new speakers this monday everytihng went smooth and i love the way my car sounds now. i have 6.5 pioneers in both the back and front doors. if anyone was wondering 6.5's do fit just fine in the front doors and the stock speaker wattage of the 98 corolla is a very weak 15.
