squeak from center box

    squeak from center box

    anybody else have this issue? I can't figure out where it's coming from exactly, but I've narrowed it to the center box w/rear cup holder. I will be driving down the road and it will suddenly start to make squeaking sounds. I found that it happens when I have my arm on top of it.. so it must be something pressure related.

    Should I just open it up and throw a bunch of rubber washers in there or what?:superconf

    I had that on my 02 corolla, and I took the center console out and lined the inside with some foam(Actually it was that stuff that is in between your carpet and the ground, not sure of what its called).

    Washers might work too. I also had to tighten the bolts for the emergency brake.

    I've been hearing a squeak on bumpier roads but I always assumed that was because of my suspension, my squeak comes from passenger side area.

    yeah mine sounded like passenger side at first, or I have two of them. I already had to put stuffing in my rear passenger 1/4 panel plastic to keep it from vibrating at freeway speeds, guess I'll have to pull that center box and try to vibration proof everything.

    I do, 2x 500w 12" subs and 2 25w rear highs and 2 1w front highs in fact. But there are times that I just want the peace and quiet. Also, those times when i just want to listen to the car...

    My A/C fan will squeek. New belt? Ironically i have to turn it on high which makes it squeek more, but eventually it fades away.

    And dont get me started on in car vibrations, i seriously need new tires and an alignment to cut back on some of them vibes.
