that make sense man, and it gives time to gather parts for your corolla

interesting job, is it just for the sumemr? it make sense to use up the inspection though, but why not lay up the focus earlier, maybe before harsh winter, so parting out the focus and installing parts for the rolla will be more easy? just my 2 cents

I ordered 2 new loaded rear struts and a replacement driverside corner light today should be here next week.

I never see prices near what you americans pay at scrap yards, if that were the case i wouldnt be fixing an old corolla.

Not sure what the exchange rate on the American dollar to the Canadian dollar are, or why parts would be so much up there.

Im on cape breton island, theres a few yards but this is a major rust magnet theres the salt in the air from the sea water and the million tons of salt they put on the roads in the winter, which has no effect on plastic parts but you get the picture on how it affects the metal ones. Then theres the fact that theres not a whole lot of money here so most people drive their cars until they're completely fucked and since there isnt an influx of new cars being bought that means less goto junkyards and etc. but you guys get the picture right? plus the yards know they have a bit of a monopoly, i mean theres some places you can get a decent price but its cheaper to buy a parts car.

hmm interesting, i get the idea finally. so will it cheaper to get a parts car instead of buysing in scarp yard? and yeah salt in winter road and sea water is car metal parts biggest enemy :)

Yeah i think im going to forget about getting rims and stick with stock steelies and hubcaps for that sleeper look, add a nitrous kit,new rod bearings, and fix the oil rings if theyre stuck and i cant believe it but transgo makes a shift kit for our auto transmissions so one of those are on my list.I also plan on gettin some roll on bedliner and doing the first 6 inches or so up from the rockers so the car wont rust.

I know this is gonna make the car look ugly but imagine how pissed off someone will be when their nice car gets beat by an ugly old corolla that looks stock lol

lol! But the rust on these cars comes from underneath, from the inside of the panels. Protecting the outside won't do anything.

I decided against making the car 'fast' so no nitrous, shift kit, or even aftermarket air filter. It also needs front struts, well one spring actually since a piece of the coil is broke off but the price difference between new springs from rock auto and a set of fully loaded struts from the same place i got the rears from is about $50.So no fast car for me im going to buy a good welder and probably pickup some more tools.

Some parts arrived today! Engine mount, Spark Plugs, doughnut gasket kit, and rear brake parts kit.I installed the mount and spark plugs and not surprisingly the engine has 3 stuck oil rings.

Corollas never shifted this good, until now." What does this mean? lol i think my corolla shifts fine

Not exactly sure, but the 1-2 shift will feel firmer, as if you let out the clutch quickly in a manual car; the car will stay in second longer under hard acceleration, another firmer shift into 4th (OD), and I think it locks the converter so the engine is always connected to the wheels.

Depends on how hard you actually push your car
