pull the speed sensor out, it might have some dirt or shit all over it, but it shouldnt, and thats a bad sign. check the gear for any damage and replace the gear if necessary. my gear was alright, but the sensor was dead. in the box of the sensor, it only comes iwth the sensor, so youmight have to order anotehr geear. having that needlestuck there is not suposed to happen. it should go back to its resting point on that pin. push it to the farthest side and let it go. it should come back to 0. if not, your speedo head assembly deal might be messed up. good luck.

the speed sensor has a harness clip to it. it will be somewhere on teh transmission. if you have a 98-02 it will be on the back of the transmisiion (near the fire wall), because it reads output shaft speed. i'm not sure of the older corolla,s, check the haynes. the rpm sensor is right by the crank pulley, since it reads engine speed.

the speedo needle is not really physically stuck. see when i turn on the car, the needle is surpose to move right, and its not. i can still move the needle by hand. but doesnt move when i rev it or drive it.

ok, well since our cars are FWD, the transmision and differential are together, called the transaxle so somewhere, where the half shafts go into the transaxle, there will be a wiring harness clip that goes and clips onto the transaxle, somewehre onteh back (firewall side). remove the bolt, and pull up and pull the sensor out. be sure to not let dirt in that hole. check the gear, get a volt meter and test the sensor. BUY A HAYNES MANUAL. OR A CHILTON.
