Today I installed a custom made bellmouth that I made by a metal spinner (the same person who made my trumpets). I also put the first half of the factory surge box/plenum back on so it's sandwiched between the trumpets. Should keep a bit more of the heat out and looks better at the same time.

Nahh, the factory wiring in the engine bay doesn't bother me. Wire tucked bays look clean as f*ck but in my opinion they look too empty.

Yeah, it's looking all clean IMO except for that one red wire going over the intake pipe (which does look much better with the bellmouth)

Cheers Chris. That's the coil lead from the distributor. Can't put that under the pipe as it puts too much tension on the lead and will eventually stretch/tear the wire.

I spent a couple of hours sound deadening both front doors today. I bought four sheets of it and did the outer skin (door handle side) with one sheet on each side. Planning on putting some inside the actual door panels/cards themselves and possibly on the inner skin of the door too.

Pulled the window regulators and glass out which made the job a lot easier. Amazing how much of a difference it has made, not just in music quality but the whole feel of the door. Feels much nicer to open and close now and should help drown out some of the road noise when driving.

Nahh, wasn't too difficult, just time consuming. I just finished spending another 3-hours sound deadening the inner skin and the door panel/card on each side. Also installed some new component speakers. Went from 6.5" 4-way speakers with 75w RMS each to 6.5" component speakers with 60w RMS each.

The old speakers sounded good but since I have 6.5" 90w RMS 3-way speakers in the rear deck and factory tweeters up front there was far too much treble, so the component speakers fixed that nicely :). Kept the factory tweeters so I didn't have to make up a special mounting bracket for the new ones. Everything is being driven off my 444w 4-channel amplifier under my front passenger's seat.

Here's a comparison video between the front and rear doors I took once I finished:

And a whole bunch of photos I took during the process:

I'll keep an eye out as they were an option for the JDM 8th Gen's too ;)

    Looks (and sounds) Great Scott!

    :isee:

Why is the padding so sporadic on the cards? Running out of material or trying to keep it lighter? Man I really need to do this.

Cheers Chris. Haha, the door cards have a lot of curves and I didn't have enough sound deadening to completely cover each card and then cut around the various holes and clips. You'll probably notice that the driver's side door card has a lot more sound deadening applied, and that's because it was the last one I did so I was determined to use every last little piece of sound deadening so that nothing went to waste :D

Hmm, look what I found today.....Factory AE111 JDM tweeter pods and original tweeters to suit your 8th Gen. How convenient :sir:. If you're interested in them just hit me up through Facebook ;). No worries if you're not though as they'll be easy to sell :)

I'm actually considering doing this myself, but only for the purpose of road noise, does it help a lot in your opinion?

In my honest opinion it did help eliminate some of the road noise. Ideally you'd need to cover the floor pan with it, and the rear wheel arches, but doing just the front doors did make a noticeable difference. Before I used to be able to hear my tires go down the dip between a driveway and the road, but now it's almost silent. And it's also a lot harder to hear the noise difference when the road changes to a different surface material (asphalt etc).

It was $25 NZD a sheet here, which is about $20 USD. The size of each sheet was 770mm x 500mm (30.3" x 19.7"). Just doing the outer door skin should make a noticeable difference and will only use about 1 sheet per door. You could do the inner skin and door card but that's mainly only for improved sound quality.

The stuff I used is 0.9kg (1.98lb) per sheet, but it will vary depending on the brand. Just stay away from lightweight roofing material that some people use as an alternative as it's bitumen based and will smell like a hot roof during the summer months. Be sure to buy stuff that's butyl based.

Love the aggressive engine bay. Do you like the setup with the exposed ITBs and cold air pipe more than the plenum style intake on that engine?

Love that you are paying that much attention to detail to all aspects of this AE10(1?)!!
