What offset did you go with on the gram lights? The +38 or +43?
How much do they weigh? I saw 17lbs somewhere but that must be wrong for a $230 dollar wheel.
Are you rubbing at all with the car that low?

+38.. The 15's weight around 11lbs IIRC. Never had a chance to weight them myself though. No rubbing at all. Running -0.8 camber in the rear w/ rolled fenders. I have plenty of wheel well clearance at full compression.

C160 Transmission Shifter and Cables

Hey JspeXAE102 did your C160 Transmission come with the Shifter and Cables? If it did'nt where did you get it from?

It came with shift cables but no shifter.. I went with a TRD Japan shifter which I wouldn't recommend because it has a angle toward the RHD driver.

good eye, it is indeed a TRD Japan FSB. I picked it up used as it is discontinued. Unfortunitely that didn't make it any cheaper.

So if i get the 2 C160 cables should'nt this be a straight bolt on to the stock 5 speed shifter and should work 100% since the C160 cables are the ones controling the gear selection & shifting? Thanks

Some said the 5spd cables will work just fine.. I cannot confirm. I've seen 6spd conversion kits being sold in Japan which includes only one shifter cable (plus shifter and tranny mount bracket) - I assume its the cable that transfers the left - right movement as the front - back one really doesn't change.

Now with using 5spd shifter and 6spd tranny... I've heard it will go into every gear except reverse which is far left and up. And the solution is to dremel out the bottom right of the plastic shifter cage so that the bottom part of the shifter would clear..

Once again that's what i've heard from my research and never actually attempted.. I decided not to chance it and made sure the swap came with at least the shifter cables because I really don't need any extra headaches.

Would a 6 speed shifter from an XRS or Celica GT-S work on our cars?

JspeXAE102 please correct me if i got this wrong. On your C160 swap you use 2 C160 cables hook up to a 6 speed shifter with a TRD SS kit.

No modification done to the Tranny Mount Bracket because it is an AE101/102 chassis.

No modification done to the Shifter Cage because it is a 6 speed shifter.

All 100% straight bolt on for you, right?

XRS definately not.. a 9th gen shifter looks radically different that ones found on a late 7th and 8th gen.

I never seen a celica shifter assembly so I cant really comment on this.

well to be fair I haven't done anything new in the last 6 months.

yes you are correct.. no modifications were needed as I used 6spd shifter cables and 6 speed shifter. But I did purchase a 6 speed conversion bracket as thy change the left transmission mount configuration on the 98-99 Corolla/Levins

notice the bracket "12325A" and mount "12372A" from this engine mount diagram for a 99 BZR

now look at this on a earlier corolla "12325A" and mount "12372A" from a 93-97 Corolla

now the solution is to either to modify the old 5spd bracket or to use a conversion bracket so that you may retain the 5spd tranny mount. I chose the later..

I strongly agree for choosing the later, oh well one more part to source, atleast there's an option for the 6 speed Shifter Lever Assembly and the Cables to be ordered new if all else fails locating a used one.

Should be quieter than the old setup hopefully... I'll find out tomorrow. I need to take it to get hangers welded on as it is a AE111 catback which has 98-02 type hangers.
