Disassembled it down to the valve covers today, looks like the oil leak is either coming from the exhaust cam seal, or the head gasket sealing surface. If the block is machined without the front timing cover bolted on to the engine, the head won't seal properly because it sits over the timing cover as well. I hope this didn't happen when the PO rebuilt the engine.

I also destroyed an EFI sensor removing some cooling system components, it literally disintegrated when I put some pressure on it with my thumb.

Also the valve cover gaskets are leaking for sure on the intake side of the engine.

Going to remove the valve covers, remove the timing belt and cam gears, inspect the seals, replace if needed, and bolt it back together. The valve covers are supposed to be held on with rubber cushioned washers, but the PO used copper washers on them, FTL.

After that, I will be doing an :love:IS-300:love: COP ignition conversion. I'll make my own wiring harness for this so you can peep my fab skills.

    Then in some order:
    - Oil Cooler
    - trans swap
    - Cat install/SMOG

I just got my hands on an ULTRA RARE Techtom ECU for this car!

This was done back in the day when standalones were more expensive than the car, and piggybacks couldn't cut it. They would rip out the ROM chip with all of the maps on it, and replace it with a daughterboard with EEPROM and processor to translate memory addresses. In effect, you can change just the fuel and timing maps and retain 100% of all of the stock ECUs functionality as the Toyota tuning engineers intended.

Well, put in about 12 hours on this bitch, basically resealed the entire top end of the engine. There was a substantial leak on the exhaust side cam seal. The previous owner looked to have reused the cam seals, and valve cover seals a few times. What a turd.

It does have a Gates Racing (GReddy supplier) timing belt, so win there.

Fixed my coolant hose problem also.

Now I need to start the car and verify that the leaks are truly fixed.

Next up is smog, transmission swap, oil cooler, intercooler, brake fluid flush, and harness install, and ECU swap, then it is track ready. I'm probably going to miss the Friday Thunderhill event, ohwell.

You seem to be right. Either way, I prefer this surface to the glossy pleather surface on the S/GT-S wheels.
