it really is true, I cant stand driving auto now. Give it some time and get used to driving stick. Once it becomes second nature (likely a few months) you might even want to try learning heel-toe downshifting. If not that at least revmatching downshifts.

I learned how to heel toe about a year and a half after i learned to drive, now it too is second nature. I do it all the time in traffic. Really not nescessary but fun :).

Also when you get good at driving stick it really translates over to any manual vehicle. I drove a rhd car 3 days ago (i'm travelling in australia at the moment) for the first time ever. It was a manual shift, a mazda 121 IIRC, a real POS. Kind of weird shifting with your left hand but I really had no problems. Even got a bit of heel toe action in while I was at it.

BTW this is my first post, so hi everybody. My parents just bought an 05 corolla, auto unfortunatly, and it will be my daily driver (after I get back home) until I find myself a AW11 MR2. I had a mk3 supra turbo before, but I sold it to help finance my trip to Oz.

Sorry for such a long post.
