$2.99 - 3.10 for 87 around here. Oddly enough, Chevron is hanging right @ 2.79. They must not have lost out as badly on Katrina as other oil companies. Stations around here are also out of 87, and 89 and 93 are becoming the only things available.

Driving really is becoming more of a luxurious privilege now. Prices will stay that way for a few months, I suspect. I'll bet Toyota is going to have a hard time keeping up with the demand for the Prius, now.

Recession (AKA depression) is looming nearby. Thanks Bush.

    Late,
    Trav

As of about 5pm yesterday: Concord - 3.29 until three stations ran out of gas. Need deisel? No? Me either. Charlotte - 4.09 only premium left and dissapearing fast if they had anything. This is beyond rediculous. And everything I keep hearing (so not necessarily true) is that we won't be getting any gas in for a period of about 2 weeks, so once it's gone, it's gone.

We kept hearing that the prices would go up to about where they are now-- in fact, some of the estimates were lower than what you're paying now. You may want to put some creedence in the rumors that gas may run out in your area.

My bicycle (and my self) is getting quite the workout lately... I don't plan on being stranded at the side of the road, or having a car in the garage on the E mark that I can't drive anywhere in case of emergency. It would be wise to plan all your trips, carpool whenever possible, and *walk* whenever possible.

There are some idiots saying that there IS... but I see no lines, no signage such as "8 gallon maximum"-- nothing at all like during the oil embargo by OPEC in the 70's, or like in June of '79 when the price of oil shot through the roof.

My own remarks about "being stranded by the side of the road" would not be due to the supposed unavailability of fuel, but the unavailability of *sanely priced* fuel.

yeah I remember being able to fill my tank for $10. Then again it was a Pontiac Fiero with a small tank. Gas was $1.09 back then. God now I'd kill for it to be at $2 again.
