I think it draws away from the lines of the car. Real, flush functional hood or nothing. My two cents.

What's normal operating temperature range? My normal range is 3/4 of the way up the gauge too. :D

    think about wrapping that header.

thrat would be the most logical solution.

itll cause turbulance and lift underneath your hood and make it want to rip off. if you do it do it right. tighten everthing. now excuse me, dora the explorer is on.

Hey you tried to replace the thermostats? Sounds like that is at fault. Replace that and you will pick up a few MPG too.

i have the aftermarket header too and i drive pretty damn hard too and i have never gone up the 3/4 mark.

as a matter of fact, my coolant hose is actually a lil pinched because i have the celica intake manifold installed as well.

dude i found the article on this. was taking a dump and took a random mag in there and it was in there.

ok so its from "dear dave tech" in SCC. the guy asks about vents. he wants to put in a vent to cool his f22 turbo. so here was the response...

rollatuner i presume you dont have on on your header. might under hood heat be the culprit to your high heat?

so rollatuner, if you do open up the rear, you will let cool air in. but you will be sacraficing the airflow to your radiator. so i guess youll have a cancelling effect and be stuck with the same temp reading and a ricey hood mod. well i gues it wouldnt hurt to try it. see if you actually reduce your temp.

and i just saw this and i totally agree.;)

maybe the idea came from the vw bugs? i personally think it is just a ricer kind of deal. there is no way to prove it does anything of substance.

the water temp gauges reads exactly that; water temperature.. its not a accurate form of measuring engine bay ambient temperature. If you want to lower water temperature, 1) get a thermostat that opens at a lower temperature, 2) get a high pressure radiator cap, 3) increase airflow into the radiator by using "cooling plates" around it to channel air into it.

Also I agree with turbo4AG, wrapping the header is more logical.

And I always agree with Dave Coleman, that guy is a genius when it comes to race car engineering.

careful when wrapping the header. i've known people who wrapped too much and ended up overheating the thing and cracked the header.

It's run 3/4's of the way up the gauge since picking it up with 7 miles on it. Never had any issues with it.
