    Tom,

the plugs are easy to change, just remember to gap them of course. It will only take you about 15 minutes. It makes a difference in the engine temp. For such a cheap price too.

Doesn't the Denso Iridium plugs come pregapped? I went to a web site that has all the Denso spark plugs and I did find one (Denso Iridium, Part # IK20, Order # 5304) but the gap is .044". I don't think they have one made pregapped to a .032" unless you get a colder plug Part # IK22, Order # 5310.

I think I have to get the IK20 plugs and set the gap manually myself.

For boosted applications, NGKs are very good plugs.

The reason you want to go to a colder plug is because cylinder temps are going to run hotter due to the supercharger. Hotter cylinder temps = detonation. If your car knocks under WOT conditions, your ECU is going to pull timing which means that you're going to lose power. Worst case scenario is that you may blow a piston.

Do yourself a favor and change the spark plugs.

As for pre-gapped plugs, you ALWAYS want to make sure and check the gap of each plug before you install it. Even though some companies may pregap their plugs, it doesn't mean that they'll arrive to their final destination with that gap. It only takes a few seconds to check the gaps.

I finally got some of the IK20's for $11.99 each. Man they are expensive. I'll go ahead and gap those to specs tomorrow and install it. I was reading up on the Denso's on their web site and they got some pretty impressive stats and capabilities. Way better than platinum.

Earlier in this post someone was asking the price on the TRD SC. I talked to JJ not to long ago and he said he would match any price you can find with free shipping. When I talked to him he said right now he would go $2500, but as the price starts coming down I am sure he will keep up with the market. The contact info is on their online store and I have bought from them in the past. Even if you don't see it on the site, they are a certified Toyota parts dealer and will sell you anything you need from TRD.

Tom, you make me green with envy man. As soon as I can cough up $3000 I am going to drop the TRD SC in my car. Yes, a turbo would be nice, but they are such a pain in the back side to get setup right. And like I said in my other post, I would abuse it too much and I want to keep this car a long time. :D

The decision didn't come easy at first due to high price, but I finally made up my mind on the s/c. That was pretty much my entire life savings, but since I'm not married and still got a lot of years ahead of me, I'll save up and get my money back. Might as well get the most out of it before we have the hassle of more responsibilities in the future. I was lucky to have the s/c kit and install for $3100. The pricing are very competitive, but I got a good deal on labor from Toyota. With the supercharger added on to the retail of the car, I figured I put in about $20,000 total for the Corolla. Not bad if you compare this kind of performance to other new cars for around that price.

$2500 w/free shipping? Can't beat that. I'm also wonder how low it will go, as the demand for it right now isn't as hot as it was.

I'm also in your situation, where as soon as I can cough up $3000 I'd get the S/C along with some other goodies that the S/C needs. I would save however much it cost on the installation, though, and have my bro install it with me.

That place has very good prices...and I think they all include free shipping.

    Yep. Free shipping on everything.

Lol...I am thinking I may need to save up some student loans. I want that TRD SC now.

There isn't that much you need to add on in addition to the TRD s/c and that's the good part. I mentioned this to other people through "pm", but if you really, really want it badly, why not charge it to your credit card? You'll probably have to pay interest later on, which is the downside, but at least you enjoy your ride. The take off is real smooth and noticeably fast. It's as if there was a small burst of nitrous in effect. I'm tempting you guys, huh? You know you want it now.........

I wonder how the Mercedes Compressor s/c messures up to the TRD s/c? I know that the older model Mercedes had a 3.5L 4cyl design running on a stock Compressor s/c. That is some 4cyl engine!! It'll probably smoke me no doubt. I've been seeing more and more of those cars around town and they take off pretty fast. Then again, you're comparing top notch German engineering to an economical Japanese design.

That would be the very reason I closed out all my high limit cards... I will get it within the next year for sure. That will give me enough time to finish the break in on the engine and get all the other upgrades out of the way (IE tires/wheels, CAI, exhaust). Anticipation is a wonderful thing. :D

I've been noticing that in the early mornings when I get ready to go to class, my intake is so loud making the "shhhhh" sound!! Man, thought I had a intake system running under there. You can hear it all the way from a block away. Then after it warms up like late afternoon, it stops. Don't know why that happens. Maybe the engine is warmed up and deosn't perform like early morning when it had a cold start. What an awesome sound!

I noticed that the TRD s/c comes with a kit that inculdes a longer downpipe that goes all the way down where the fog lights are, just like the CAI does except the filter box is still on. I'm pretty sure I never noticed that before and that it had to be new. It wasn't like that before when it had the stock stubby looking pipe that only goes right above the tire fender and splits off around the battery. It looks good though.
