Ill clean MAF tonight and let the cleaner evaporate overnight. The stuff I bought leaves residue :( so ill use a q-tip and gently clean up any residue. It doesnt leave much though. Ill try to get it as clean as possible.

No it was meant for this because he said that ABS is rare on 01 and so is side air bags.

Well I just cleaned my MAF. All I can say is WOW! I took a good look inside the MAF and only saw darkness even with a 1,000,000 candle power flood lamp. I just gave it one shot of electronic contact cleaner and within a second two silver things came out of nowhere. I am by far amazed and I havent even put it in my car yet. Gonna let everything evaporate over night and put it back in tomorrow morning.

yup, if it was that bad you'll notice a throttle response and power increase immediately. should also idle more smoothly.

 HOLY SHIT!!! My cars throttle response is soo much greater now. My dad was soo impressed he told me to clean his MAF on his Lexus. I knew it was gonna be hell because he has never opened up his airbox lol. So I go to open it up and I find out that the vacumm return line isnt even hooked up. I was thinking that that may be causing his CEL. So I take everything off and his MAF is a bit different than our rollas, Ill try to get a pic if I can. I took off the whole airbox to clean it and in the process, I found tons and tons of bits of leaves in there lol. So now Im cleaning the MAF and I take a peak inside, nothing. Gave it a nice shot and I started seeing stuff but I didnt see the two senors yet lol. Gave it another two more shots and holy cow! The whole inside was metal. I took a q-tip and starting to clean it gently and the q-tip came out pitch black. We resetted his ECU and put everything back on. His idle is better and response, you really cant tell the difference because its a V6 lol. We will wait a few days and see if CEL returns or not.

yup, I clean mine every 5-10K.. I know it's overkill but that way I always have really good throttle response.

when I had my injen I was cleaning it every month because the oil kept getting all over it and causing a CEL. never got it to idle correctly so that's why I sold it
