    Drum brakes

When do the original drums brakes usually need work and how can you tell? Will the E-brake get weak or something else obvious? I have about 80,000 miles now.

jack up the rear of the car and make sure the transmission is in park(auto) or reverse(manual). you may also want to put a piece of wood or somethin in front of the front wheels, just in case. take the e-brake off. remove one or both of the rear wheels and pull the drum off. you will see your brake shoes and will be able to tell whether or not there is andything left on them.

    good nuff? lata.

also=get some brake cleaner-you'll be amazed by the amount of brake dust that collects there-usually everything will be coated black...this may also help any squealing problems as well
