I noticed that my rear end came around fucking excellently with a degree or two of toe out.

also, another major factor is the front roll couple of the miata compared to the corolla. since the miata is a rwd vehicle, you need to apply gas to shift weight to the rear end during cornering. this is where frc comes in. frc is s formula that shows, by difference in spring rates and sway bars and how much power the car makes, how much weight is shifted to the rear of the car when gas is applied. a high frc % means a lot of weight shift. get the idea? a stock miata will have about 55-57% frc. this is fine, but will make the car understeer when pushing it into corners. great for noobs and some autox guys (some shoot for 60+%). i was around 45% frc. lower than stock, but not wanting to slide all the time either. this is where the toe in came in. the car was predictable. it gave plenty of warning when you came up to the limit and broke loose cleanly and smoothly. easily controllable.

the odd thing, is when pushing hard on a corolla, i have noticed it has a tendency to oversteer more than a stock miata would. not like mine with the suspension settings, but a good balance for a fwd car. i have been able to toss mine around in some pretty damn curvy roads, getting the back end to start to rotate and then apply some power, lsd locks and pull it out of the corner just fine. but i still have some understeer if i enter the corner with a bit too much gusto or on the throttle too much. nothing major. its pretty damn balanced really. very easy to control

i also forgot, toe in is wanted on a rwd vehicle because as the car squats and transfers weight to the rear, the rear tires will naturally toe out a bit, so you counter this with some toe in. but too much toe in and the car understeers, not enough and the car will be loose and want to slide all the time. its almost trial and error, unless you know the car very very well.

I have Puhn's book but I didn't have enough experience to understand most of it. I should try it again soon. I did get that higher roll couple = more weight transfer and less body roll = less slip on that axle.

I have stiffer sways on both axles so it turns in pretty well, but I can't really pull out of corners the way a legit FF should (no LSD yet). So do you think the .815 6th in the Celi/Elise transmission is going to be legit? That is the only thing holding me back from getting that C60 with the TRD helical.

is it on newcelica.org? i know in my gearbox i have the .725 but mine came from a 03 celica. and according to this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_C_transmission#C60 almost all us spec gear boxes, sans the elise/exige have the .725

really, my cruise isnt too bad. 70mph is 3500. it is humming along, but i find most of the time im cruising around 80 or so at 4k. i still hit 26+ mpg's. last tank fill up was wed. average for that tank (been cruising at 70 mostly, combined city and highway with the occasional romp on a mooostang) 28.4mpg. its down from what the auto corolla used to get, but with the improvement in acceleration im not complaining.

says on mine, with a 205/50 i should be at 3343 at 70 with the .725. with the .815 it changes to 3761 at 70mph all else staying the same.

also, 6th gear is easy to change out, since its in the outer part of the trans. its under the little cover next to the drivers side wheel. so even if you get it and dont like the .815, it wouldnt require tearing down the whole gear box to change the one gear. ill check and see the condition of my other .725 gears from my old trans. i want to say one had a chip on a tooth from disassembly, but the other was fine. if they are both good, then i would be willing to mail them to you if you really want the .725

Thanks. Looks like 6th might be too short and looks like You can only swap final drives from other 6 speeds.

500 RPM difference at 80 Mph between the two 6th gears.

Won't be too bad if I can bring down my average commute speed to like 70, but I would really like to get the .725 in there. Do you think 1350 is a good price still if I'm going to need to change that 6th in the end?

    Thanks bro.

1350... i would offer 1000. 1350 isnt a bad deal, but you want the other 6th so.. tell him thats the deciding factor for you is if you can get it cheap enough to afford to swap out the 6th gear to what you want.

yep, the puller is cheap at harbour freight. i have one. there is a good write up on new celica for the trans disassembly. i followed this. it can be a bit nerve raking cus the gears make all kinds of popping sounds as they come up. its fucking freaky and was playing with my emotions when i did mine. lol

the lsd takes some time to get used to it. but its nice. the first few times you get it to lock up under throttle might be a bit scary. it locks and just acts like it wants to go only that direction. steering will become heavy. just pull your foot off a bit and you will be fine.

Yes, it will be... Oh it will be. I'll launch my car tonight and get it on film from the outside. So you can see how bad or good it will hook up with the LSD and a 4.5 final. I'll launch it hard. Like 6000 or maybe higher. Lol.

An obx/mwr. They are the same. It is an obx with the upgraded bolts and belleview springs. Shimmed tight. It's a very predictable engagement. Always locked pretty much unless your turning.

    I wonder how the C60 LSD's compare: Quaife/TRD/OS-Giken/MWR&OBX?

Honestly, I know the Trd, quaife and obx/mwr are all helical. So other than the case with Trd, they function all the same. I think the OS giken is a clutch pack.

its just too much space apart, idk how it would happen....plus the 8th gen axle is a no go, but im guessing we have already discussed which one to use in a previous post.
