ok so i got the parts today, what i immediately noticed was the 6th gen celica rear disc are a tad weeee bit bigger than the 7th gen celica front disc....Amazingly the bearing on all 4 are in excellent condition maybe better than my current ones....

now also another thing that i noticed.....on the rear 6th gen disc brakes where it mounts to the trailing arms its a little bit longer than what the corolla has so that might be a problem but ill have to figure something out....but the 7th gen celica fronts are a direct bolt on.

cbass, did you get 7th gen celica gt front discs or gts? cus there are 2 different sizes. the gt's i want to say were 250mm and the gts was 275mm.

also, how much longer on the trailing arms? like the lower bushing? i have my rears, but not my fronts yet. i still need to get my wheels and all before i can put my 5 lug swap on.

Milky i got the GT front because thats all what they had....but is the caliper bigger on the GT-S model? s.png

and thats what im talking about....where it mounts from the spindle/knuckle whatever its called its longer for the celica...i was thinking maybe welding a spacer on the inner mounting point from the corolla to match the size from the celica...

I thought the camry rear disc were a bolt on? i checked my junk yard an the camry disc are the same size as the celica....

AND on the 6th gen celica the fronts look like they also fit out corolla, and it has a bigger disc than the 7th gen celica....i could be wrong but ill go 2mrw and check it again...

the caliper is the same size, but the bracket that holds it move it out for the larger rotor from my understanding. i have a pair of new 00-05 gts calipers sitting in my basement.

ah, those would be the lateral links / control arms. the trailing arm is the one that connects to the bottom and goes forward to the car. hence the term trailing arm. still, 1in is a big difference.

ohhh i see....well i guess ill have to sit with my GT fronts....which is fine since im really just aiming for the 5 lug conversion...

sorry for the name confusion, dont know what these things are called...

but yea its like 1 inch longer,
    d.png

I saw the celica at the junk yard and thats how it looked to me ^^^

what i was thinking about if its a problem then i was going to remove the big arm thing thats holing the rear disc an welding in a longer spacer to fit it.

AH! so the arm length isnt the issue but the actual boss width is on the knuckle. thats an easy fix really. spacers is one way. another would be to have the boss on the knuckles machined down to the same width as the corolla ones. either way shouldnt be to expensive. with the spacers, just make sure you have plenty of room to get everything in there.

take some measurements of both bosses when you get a chance. or side by side pics if you want.

thats another thing....you wouldn't be able to cut them because both have like a opening in the back of it and cant be cut because if you cut it to length the bolt wont be held inside anymore....the red line is the bolt
    df.png

what i was thinking was getting a simple nut from home depot and using it as a space just like you said but the welding part is just simple aswell...

hmm.. it is cast iron, a skilled welder and machinist could cut it down and weld on a piece to hold the bolt in. i have a buddy who does tig welding on cast turbo manifolds all the time. adds in stuff like external wastegates and what not. when i get a chance ill run it by him and see what he thinks.

but i see what your saying. i would honestly go with the removable spacer option. it would be easier to setup.

i take it the first pic is the strut to knuckle?

looks like the control arm mounting boss is 4.5 in for the corolla and 5 7/8ths in for the celica? am i seeing that right? so an 1 1/4 in would have to be shaved off on the celica boss.
    Added: Mar 24, 2013 4:34 AM
the actual control arm lengths shouldnt be an issue, since your not going to use those. you should be retaining the corolla ones.

    yes.

Im not going to tamper with the mounting boss...my uncle said a simple nut spacer can do the job since their is not much stress in that area.

yes i know, but just decided to take pictures of what i could

ALSO milky another thing i tried removing the hub bearing from the corolla and replacing it with the celica 5 lug and i was able to bolt 2 screws on the corolla mounting boss and the other 2 where like less than half an inch apart and was thinking about drilling those holes bigger and going that route....

my uncle also mentioned you might be able to remove the whole bearing and mounting hub and swap it into the corolla one, ill have to take pictures to show you....these are just ideas of what i might do.

yeah i like the spacer idea best, i just always think up multiple ideas on how to achieve something. back up plans, ya know.

as for bolting on the 5 lug hub, i also found out that the bolt pattern on the hubs is slightly larger than the corollas. i know it could have the holes modified to fit it, since the pattern is slightly smaller. i dont think that would be a bad option. i want to say someone has done just this, but with the caliper backing plates so that they could use the brakes once they were redrilled to 4x100, so it is a viable option and might be the easiest way to go. it wouldnt be too hard to egg the holes a bit, just enough to get it to bolt on. but make sure the hubs are centered. maybe make a transfer gasket and have a machine shop redrill the corolla knuckle pattern onto the hubs.

i looked up the wheel bearing cross references a long time ago. my conclusion was the bearing swapping wouldnt be the best way. i was going to just swap the knuckles, but well you have beat me to it. lol. im still gathering all my parts to swap.

What's custom about the rear seats folding down? Mine has a 60/40 split, put them both down, that's 100%
