    Custom Turbo System: 2001 Corolla

Today we ran the car on the dyno to get a "before" sheet. The blue run is in 4th gear and we hit the speed limiter at 116mph. The red run is all the way to redline and was made in 3rd gear.

This car is running a Fidanza flywheel, 2.5" stainless mandrel-bent exhaust, cold air intake. I posted some pics up of all that work a few months back. Now it's here for a custom turbo system. :)

I'm keeping my expectations low in hopes that we'll be pleasantly suprised. :)

    ^ lol doc.

thats exactly how i look / think about things... i guess its better to expect nothing then get surprised of the outcomes rather than to expect alot then be disappointed later. i learned that the hard way.

    @ vortex:
i was just goin to ask some of you turbo peeps what your hp stats are :p

It's really unique... The downpipe curves off from the side. And its a huge diameter. What size is it exactly? I can see the exhaust is a wide diameter too.
I know this is a long shot but do you think you would be able to sell this as a kit able to ship out if it meets demand?

Its not going to meet demand. Look at his rear disc brake swap kit. Everyone said they would get it but they arent moving at all.

Very nice. I wish I had used a v-band clamp for my downpipe. I can't get the stupid thing out unless I drop the cross member cause the flange gets in the way. Looking forward to seeing what you put out with this setup. What size turbo is that anyway? Looks about the same size as mine.

Thanks for the great comments everyone. That turbo is a GT2860RS, and if my calculations are correct, it should be just perfect for the engine and horsepower goals in mind.

The awesome welding are courtesy of the new guy that we've hired here at the shop, "Angry" Mike, who's a very good tig welder. He designed the manifold (a cross between a log and a tubular design, similar to a log but with much better flow and extremely compact) along with the downpipe.

The diameter of the downpipe along with the complete exhaust is 2.5".

I would like to market this kit, but we will not have the chance to blueprint this one, and demand is a big concern. If anyone wants this same setup though, or any custom turbo setup, ship it on down and we'll take care of it. This customer sent his car down from NJ.

I'm going to leave the speed limiter in place as far as I know. It isn't about how fast you can go, it's about how fast you can get there. :)

does anyone make a v band for an internally gated .48 t3? the three bolt flange is effing impossible to get to with the sharp angle my downpipe is at.

Yeah I know what you mean. I've never seen them offered, but if you can pull the downpipe off and cut it where you want the v-band installed, we can weld it up for you no problem.

Hey J, I'm thinkin when I'm down in Georgia next I wanna swing by and depending on how long I'm in town for, maybe do some redesign work with my manifold and downpipe setup for use with internal... While the stuff is off the car we could always do a couple jigs for a external and internal setup... just a thought. :)
