    Corolla discontinued??

According to the rating of the corolla in Road & Track, the corolla seems to be shortlived. They said it has become a bland dailer driver. Quote : "There were no model changes last year either, so expect the corolla to either go away soon, or be redesigned for a new market. As it is, buyers who are looking at the new toyota yaris should consider the corolla. For nearly the same price the corolla has a 1.8 liter engine, which gives it a bit more pep. But is it worth it?" o_O

Looks like scion sales siphoned off potential buyers. Backfired plan or intentional? Who knows...

corolla will not go away. corolla is toyota's bread and butter. i think i read somewhere that it's the only car to have outsold the vw beetle.
there were no model changes coz corolla will have a new style for 08. so any changes are usually in options only or minor facelift. they usually keep the same look for 5yrs.

just like civic, it's hondas bread and butter.

Toyota's new bread and butter are the Scions. The corolla will be phased out. The Corolla XRS getting killed is just the first step. Looks like Toyota is competing with itself through different divisions.

scions are not available worldwide. corolla is.
word about xrs is that coz they stopped celica so they got all these extra 2zz engines so they decided to stuff it into matrix n corollas to use up the extra engines. now they're all gone, they stopped xrs models. how true this is, don't know.

w3rd. The only thing that can save the corolla is to make RWD sport versions again.

the 2008 corolla body style and the whole design sucks and i will not ever buy another toyota corolla again, if you own and xrs keep it because its blue book value just went up, be on the look out for the 08 supra with a twin turbo 500 bhp v8 and a single turbo v6 with 350 bhp

Corolla is discontinuing is a joke... Toyota make tons of money selling corollas around the world... 40+ yrs of Corolla heritage they wouldn't discontinue it just like that... plus Corolla are known worldwide for there excellent build quality and reliability... driving school ppl use it, and now u see more and more taxi drivers buying corollas...

as for performance corolla... toyota will build something for the category of the discontinued Celica espeically in canada cuz in canada there isn't any 2 door Celica type car for toyota...

the axio looks bigger and more like a cross between camry and lexus es don't like it, i miss the good old days when corolla was small and zippy, i just loved corolla for being a simple car and this new one is loaded with electronics probably will not have the same low price tag... good thing i'm in europe now, i can catch the 2.0L disel corolla hatchback :)

The only reason the XRS was ended was because the engine didnt meet emissions standards using the 2ZZ-GE engine.

I saw the new corolla here in europe, as in the one that will come out in 2008, it freaking looks like a camry just smaller... i don't like the way its going, like my friend said, corolla will keep getting bigger and bigger and will become a camry, and yaris will be the next corolla. But its nice.

to correct you slightly...if i remember correctly, they planned on phasing out the motor, and opted to use it in the Corolla XRS as a limited edition vehicle.

ditto, the rolla will never die, if it did then toyota just shot every corolla owner in the foot, it's the most widely known and sold car in human history.

not quite. it's a submodel of the Camry, rather than a rebadging of the model, just like the Matrix is a submodel of the Corolla.

That is the most badly organized run-on sentence I have ever seen. You really need to work on your spelling. From seeing your other posts, it's horrendous. I don't want to offend you but it's hard to take someone seriously when you have to sort through the sentence to understand it.

But all that aside, Toyota does make cars such as the Corolla in the horsepower range of 200+. However, they are all sold everywhere besides the US and Canada. Japan, most of the European countries, and Australia always have the best vehicles.
