Well, thats your opinion. And I think your a bullshitter, ever since you said that your best friend died in your arms at the Columbine shooting, and your stories about being engaged and all.....and the entire bike article thing was just you trying to cover your tracks. Im not the only one that jumped on ya for that.
You seriously take things too personally, and I think you feel as though you have to lie to get people to like you or notice you. If you know for a fact that all of your stories are true, you shouldnt feel like you should have to prove it to me....
And dont jump all over him for putting a smiley face there......its nothing worse than some of your replies

You know, I see all the things that have gone on my life and the lives of my friends... ... ...and about a year ago, I learned an incredibly valuable lesson that I wish I could teach to everyone who doesn't know it.
There is a very fine line between caring too much and not caring at all.
That line is where you care just enough to get things done...but not enough to do anything past your ability.
Damir, this is something I really wish you could learn. People are right, you do take things way to personally and seriously. You are only 17...you are still smack in the biggest part of your life where you will learn lessons. There are times when I try to help my friends and keep them from making mistakes. (Particularly my younger friends.) However there are also times when you have to just back off and let people make their own mistakes. You need to make a few mistakes before you realize some major life truths. I believe right now, that you have this thought in your head that you need a brand new XRS (or any car) because you see Travis with a seriously custom car...you see Kris with a 2004, me with a 2003 and a bike, Mike with a 2005 and you are simply unsatisfied with your 1999. Well, guess what...you're 17. Granted, it's not right of your mom to spring the divorce on you, it's not right of her to tell you that you can get the car, and then back-out on you. I'm not saying it's all your fault. And I wish I could make this sound easier than it is...but it's not easy. I've told this to you before, and I'm telling you again. Quit trying to accomplish 15 or 100 major goals all at the same time. You have to take life as it comes, and right now, as it comes, you have to help out your mom...so your plans are on back-burner now.
Please just take everything I've said as me trying to pass some experience onto you. I'm just trying to help you.
I apologize for the length of this post.

    Very good post!

I understand exactly what youre saying, because I went through all of that when I was in school....college though. I wanted a newer car SO bad, and when my grandparents offered to by me another car, and it wasnt the car that i wanted, I balked at it, so I kept my 94 until I graduated college. (got it when i was 17)

But I dont think its fair to say "its not fair of your mom to spring the divorce on ya".....because thats life, and hes along for the ride. Things change, and you deal with them. But its hard to have compassion for someone when you dont know whats truth and whats embellished.

    Indeed.

Damir, do you know what I drove from 16-19? A piece of shit 1974 Camaro that was always falling apart on me. Even when I was working for Microsoft I drove this car and tried to save up money. After I left there I used all the money I had saved up to start an internet company, which slowly did things and finally made a little money. Then when I was 19, I got a hold of and drove a 1968 Mustang which was always giving me shit. For my 21st birthday I found a 1969 Camaro and decided I'd go out on a limb and get it since it was the car I had always wanted. I'd get the money together and make it run and that's what I'd drive. Shortly after the tranny blew in the 1974 Camaro and I left it to die in Seattle. I moved to Colorado and brought my 69 Camaro with me. I got a decent job and had a grand extra month to put into it. I should have saved the money instead of modding my car but all I wanted was a badass Camaro. I got the ride all up and running and rockin and one day while I was driving home it took a shit on me - a huge one. I was just 22. I spent the night in that car in a gas station 24 miles from home and decided that I needed to pull my head out of my ass and take a new approach at things. So, I went out the next day and for the first time financed a car. It was a 1998 Toyota Corolla. I drove my grocery getter Corolla while I got the Camaro back up and running with its old 327 and sold the 502 I'd spent all my money installing. I got rid of all my mods to it and put it back to ' stock (with some minor uppies) '. That was my backup car while I did a few things to the Corolla. I did a bodykit (got ripped off for 800 bucks from Duwayne in the process and ended up spending 400 to get it from another company 6 months later), rims, suspension, minor performance mods. Keep in mind I was still making good money but I had learned not to dump all my available cash into a car immediately . I saved up the money (mind you we're now where I'm 24 almost 25 yrs old) and I turbo'd the Corolla. I still had the Camaro as a backup and once I was satisified with what I had done to my Corolla, I decided to stop putting money into it (priorities changed) and restore my Camaro. I had gotten too caught up in trying to be like everyone else and before I knew it had spent too much money on my Corolla. Granted I was smart about how I spent my money and I didnt get myself into any debt because of it, but all it took was one day to wipe that car out. Nov 2, 2004. I got owned and so did my nice custom Corolla.

    So, what did I do?

Once I had calculated that I could salvage 95% of my performance mods, I made a choice to get another Corolla. I brought home the 99 Rolla and swapped all my mods over to it. Now, I've bought a couple things here and there (rims) but I haven't done anything else to it. Ask anyone, my whole outlook is different. It only took me spending 35,000 on cars and watching them waste away or fail to reach my high and unfortunately unachievable expecations. What lesson did this teach me?

    ONE very important one.

You don't need to ' keep up with the jones' ' (comment referring to keeping up with what everyone else is doing to seem like you're one of them) --- you need to strive for what you feel is important one goal at a time. Pick your battles and follow through.

I stopped modding my Corolla once I got everything up and running in it. No need to go further. Yes, its turbo'd but its a result of my previous car. I'm not putting time and or a ton of money into modding it --- I may do some things later but I go one project at a time. Im restoring my Camaro. Im not trying to get a loan to do it, not trying to scheme or otherwise find a quick way about it. Im doing what I can as the resources come to me and in the mean time moving along in life.

My advice to you. Dont worry about what car you get. Just get one to get you to work, do your job and do it well. save your money, maybe go to college, lay the foundation for your future and when you've succeeded and you're making the big bucks -- then indulge and reward yourself a little here and there. Don't try to make too many things happen now. It'll only frustrate you and bring you down. I promise you.

We're not doing this to bust your chops to take the wind out of your sails but as Andy said, you're only 17. I'm almost 10 yrs older than you. Trust me, you've got time. :)

    Travis

Thats a good thing....just dont spew any BS, and there wont be a next time..BRO. YOuve got your entire life ahead of you....dont bite off more than you can chew right now. You say youre making good money, so take advantage of it, dont max out your finances, and get a car thats a few grand that you can pay off quickly, and start saving your money. Youll be happy you did.

yea I'm taking that advice actually, I already called Stevenson yesterday and told them I didn't want the XRS anymore, I'm going with a 1g dsm or a Galant VR4 for now since there's this new job I got and one of these cars can hold out on my for at least another year till I save up and build credit too.

That's all good to hear, man, I missed out on a lot of that conversation...that'll teach me to fall asleep.
But another good thing I can tell you D is to not worry about what other people will think. You could roll over to one of our houses in a 1986 CRX, with one missing door, and 4 different tire sizes, with the muffler dragging on the ground and the rear glass broken out and we'd still be your friend.
As the people we are we're just trying to help...granted sometimes we may all be tactless about it...but at least we're trying.

Good call. And I'll be honest with you...I was leaning on the tendancy of avoiding you a little bit...because you were so pissed about it that you couldn't loosen up and have fun. But it seems like once you take it all to heart, you'll be back to the same ol' Damir.
Now if he'd just hurry up and help me start my blow business...i'll be set.

just think D...in a couple years...the faster rolla will be out (by theory alone....no supporting proof) and you'll have plenty of time to save for it....I had a buddy that had a galant vr-4...quick little thing...but get what can get you around for a while...

yea I'm not really worried about it you know, the salesman was kinda pissed but I could give a hell less because I also had to wait but w/e. Some guy from Aurora is coming by today with a 90' TSi that has a few add ons, rebuilt motor and such to let me test drive it and stuff and if this one runs smooth and stuff then I'll buy it. As long as it holds out on me past winter I'm more than good
