Cobalt or Cavalier a Chevy is a piece of shit! I hope it comes with a good warranty and I hope the buyer doesn't mind spending a lot of time at the dealership. I had one GM and I'll never make that mistake again!!

one car isn't any real way to judge a company. honestly...your bias is unfortunate.

then again...nobody realizes that the diesel they're putting in our trucks is at the top for american diesels...and it's mated to a great tranny...

but who gives two craps about that, right? ;)

i dont like gm interiors... but the quality of the mechanicals on some of the cars are actually not bad, they last awhile... we had a 90 lumina (in 1990) and we had that car for 6 years, put over 240 000kms in 6 years (lots of trips), nothing major ever wrong with it... my grand parents have a 98 Lumina, bought it new, nothing ever wrong with it, other than maintenance (they do baby the car though)... but still 6 years and only maintenance is good...a friend of the family has only bought GM vehicles... except for one vw jetta... he had 2000 grand prix gtp with 120 000kms on it, and the car was driven really hard, only had to replace alot of tires... he also has a 98 suburban with 180 000kms, only one real problem, had to replace the mechniasm on his rear hatch... if you take care of them, regular maintenance, they can last quite awhile... thats only the late models... the early 90s and before are POS...

I look at it this way. Track & Driver last month tested the SRT-4 against the Redline. And their findings were interesting. Basically the srt-4 scored one point over the redline in over all scoring. Where the 4 lost it's power in the corners do to lack of proper boost, the redline ate it up. T&D also said it was a better over all ride, but the 4 was just a little better off the lines and in the stretches.

Now, if the redline can hold it's own against the SRT-4, imagine what the SS Cobolt will do.

If I didn't already have an import(domestic) then I would go for the new generation of domestics.

It's true one bad car experience with a domestic doesn't mean that the company puts out crap. I've had my share of bad experiences with foriegn as well as domestic cars. It's just what you get handed that you have to play with. Doesn't mean the deck is short.

    ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

the corvette(the new 05) has its ups and downs. it's definitely meant for lazy men...the thing starts when you're within 30 feet of the car and have the key on you.

back on track...Shinma, i agree. i was half tempted at one point to trade in the Corolla on a Cobalt SS when they come out(before stuff started working out for me on the Corolla). aside from the body, which looks like a Cougaralier to me, they seem like they'll be good cars. the european influence on the motor has been a boon for the car, methinks.
