celica GT-S motor in a corolla, possible?

ok if you havent read my other thread already, i fucked my motor up bad...so i need a new motor...why should i spend 1000 dollars on a 1zz-fe if i could get the 2zz for a couple of hundred more...other than haveing to rig up some new motor mounts and getting an ecu do you think that a 2zz will work in a corolla...and bolt up to the 1zz tranny....any thoughts?

bolts up to tranny. you dont need motor mounts. this is true in a zze110. probably also the 130 as well. this is all dr. tweak's original info, he installed a 2zz in a 98 corolla. you would definitely need to run a piggyback ecu of some kind as well. I am not quite sure if this is a good idea or not, because of the 1zz's longer gears. granted you'd stay in lift for longer with a 5 speed, but you will also spend much much longer trying to get TO lift to make it worthwhile IMO

it's an 03 right? What did you do to it man?? And I would imagine the 2zz should fit right into a 03+ quite easily, considering you can get it from the factory now lol xrs lol. I would recommend biting the bullet and getting the 6spd too because the 2zz isn't meant for the tall gears of the corolla 5spd tranny. That tranny is meant for fuel economy, not performance.

well the only reason im researching this route is because my 1zz that is currently in my car now is on life support...meaning it will die in about 2-3 months :(. so i am just researching other options rather than selling my car for parts

Everything is possible...research is the key and experiment is anything.Didt you try thinking of swapping a celica gt motor instead, its 5spd.Just trying to give you other option beside the 2zz.

If your engine is on life support you can always rebuilt it with better components and maybe turbo it. The celica GT engine is more or less the same as the original engine.

    update on cars condition***

well yesterday i took my car to gault for a compression test and the results were not good at all....2 bent rods and valve train problems :( . so she is definatly at the end of her life, for now :). i spoke to my insurance agent and he told me that flood damage was covered under "no fault" insurance, so ill i will have to pay is a 500 dollar deductable to pay for the cost of fixing my car....either 2 things could happen

    1. my car can be conciderd totalled i.e i get a fat check for 10k
    or
    2. i will get a check for the repairs which was estimated at somewhere near 3-4k including parts and labor...what i will then do with that money is buy a 1zz off line for 500 and have someone install it for me for another 500 leaving me with 2-3k in my pocket..btw this is not insurance fraud, its just being smart

now what should i do with that money left over? i know what you are going to say turbo or sc/er...but i was really concidering investing it

whoever said the 03's are the same as the 05, ur not totally correct. i have an 05 and a lot of things are re-arranged in the engine compartment along with a lot of other little things.

Biggest difference on the 05's from the 03's -04's is the drive by wire for the throttle, but I am sure there are tons of other little changes/differences.
