yeah...tC supercharger(or the blower at least is Vortech)... and again yes...the other parts COULD be TRD. or all in all, it could be a mix of both. that's the Vortech/TRD collaboration that some of you may be talking about..

I personally dislike centrifugal-style SCs. What's the point of an SC is you have to wait for it to spool? Roots-type blowers are where it's at when you want a car that has dirty, low-down hp and tq! If you are going to use FI that needs spooling, just use a turbo. :x

it doesn't need to spool..........it works pretty much the same as a roots type, it's a turbo on a stick. It's still belt driven and still offers great low end power.

So why do dyos of centrifugal SCs show lag and what differentiates them from screw-type (roots) blowers if they operate the same way?

They don't have lag so to say, they just don't yield as big of a gain in the low rpm's. You made it sound like they have the same lag as a turbo which is not true. They still offer low end power, and actually run cooler than a roots type supercharger, installation is also much easier. Boost is more consistent throughout the RPM range, unlike a roots type in which boost tends to drop in the higher RPMs

I'd rather have low end that dropped off than no boost until 3k+

i think you meant to say high end...........and you're not hearing a word i say.

you still have boost off the line, just not as much...........forget it :x

If you're all about low end, then look into a screw type supercharger.

Better upgrades in a belt driven compared to a root where there is almost no way to upgrade anything unless you want to wast your money.

it's also a lot easier to intercool a centrifugal supercharger.

There were some dynos posted (I think it was on Matrixowners) that compared a turbo to a centrifugal SC, and they had the same results: little to no low-end power, with boost kicking in later. Only the turbo showed greater gains.

I'm not really sure how a dam relates to cars at all.

a centifugal is more efficient than a roots, has instant boost just like a roots since its driven off the serpentine belt just like the roots, leaves more room to modify and upgrade since it isnt bolted straight to the manifold or replacing the intake manifold entirely, can run much higher levels of boost than a roots, and so on...

and dont anybody try and argue that funny cars run roots blowers cuz they dont, they use twin screw blowers which are slightly different in their design but make a huge difference in terms of power
