I stick with independant shops that have a reputable following....theres a shop down in Chantilly VA that works on high end, european cars. They have tons of experience with the very touchy VW electrical systems, so I took my passat down to them (Sound Solutions) to have them install my headunit, DVD, etc.
Since then Ive swapped out the headunit myself.

Best Buy wasn't that way at first - they used to be pretty good. I used to work for them almost 13 years ago for a couple of years. They used to be to employees and had ecellent customer service. Not anymore - I quit after they gave me crap for taking the weekend off for a college graduation ceremony.

Pretty bad when lots of techs and "product specialists" don't know what the product does or correctly install a piece of equipment or software - just want to sell you an extended warranty or some other service plan. Total BS - I wouldn't put up with it.

Those warranties are worth it....I bought my laptop through Best Buy, and the service plan was 300 bucks, for 5 years. It covers everything except drops, and it will cover the cost of a battery if needed. Peace of mind.

Same thing with the TV I bought....any dead pixels, and Im covered.

I usually dont buy the warranties for cameras, printers, etc
