    not much really. higher compression engines use fuel more efficiently, so maybe a 1-2mpg drop. 1 full compression point, as in from 10.5 down to 9.5 will drop about 6-8hp total. thats about it really.

    yeah, pretty much. but if you have the fuel to support the higher compression, then do it. you will make more hp on less pressure. plus you will have better off boost driveablility. but anything with a compression ratio of 8.8 and up will drive fine off of boost. its really when you get lower than that it becomes really apparent. like with dsm's. 7.8:1 cr. pretty damn low, but then again you can run stupid boost pressures on a all stock bottom end and make nice power. 400-500s if done right.

    There's a Talon in town, total beast. Rapes on Corvette Z06s all day out on the edge of town... I mean uh the racetrack. I wouldn't mind a DSM as a first turbo car.

    Do I have to mod the Corolla's chassis to keep decent power such as 180-220 ? I know the brakes system is one.

    I would definitely work on a good suspension setup if you're gonna add power. Great handling in a small car is the reason this phrase exists- It's more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow.

    So true. In my opinion,the car needs to be well balanced. If you accelerate quickly, you need to be able to stop just as fast. So this means good brakes and tires. I also believe it should be able to turn and handle just as well. My car is slow in a straight line, but I can stop, turn and handle almost on par with my old Miata. And it wasn't a slouch in the twisties. A lot of it does come from the driver and their skill level. The car does matter. But you have to know the limits of your car, tires and their limits of traction and how to maintain it.

    Yes, you are right about that. I wish there was a full guideline for our turbo 8th gen corollas. I'm looking at this

    All this guy added was a 282mm Disk, Rear Disk brake system,6000K HID, and a Rear 19mm Stabilizer bar. I don't think he did anything to the stock axles, which is the main point of this question. With those mods he has 180 horses on top of those stock axles. I'm wondering if this is accurate?

    180hp on stock drivetrain is not really much of a strain on any parts. the older 4age powered cars used the same axles. the silvertop and blacktop made 160-170hp in stock trim. the brakes are nice. im using 275mm fronts from a 00-05 celica gts. great stopping power and cheap on parts. where he found 282mm fronts, i dont know. but i like to be able to run a 15in wheel if i want to. the rear discs are nice. next up on my list right now as is sway bars. now, i do like that front bumper. it isnt too flashy, but still looks decent.

    Nice, :D it's simple enough. I almost have everything, the pipes, 60 trim turbo/wastegate, manifold, blow off valve, oil lines, a 255 fuel pump, the low compassion gasket , Stock scion tc injectors, down pipe, and an intercooler. I'm working on the following brake system,rear discs, sway bars, mwr rod bearings and a used 1zzfe. Tires will be in the future.


    I'm planing on dress the car similar to your picture. I don't like body kits and crazy jdm lights.

    Can the APEX-I VAFC work with our non vvti 1zzfe? or go with Emange Ultimate ?

    :weep: yes, this is someone else's engine and avatar. I wonder if that 2zzge manifold can fit our non vvti izzfe ? I wish that avatar was in my car. I actually saw a YouTube video with this particular set up. It made 233 hp and I'm guesting the torque numbers are 220. The guy with that motor raps stock evos.

    Go with the emanage ultimate over the vafc. The low throttle side of the vafc settings will get learned around. The emanage modifies multiple signals so its much harder for the ecu to learn around it. Just make sure your cruise and idle afr's are tuned to the 13.8-14.7 range that way the ecu will have a next to impossible time relearning, since those are its targeted afrs for those areas. Cruise is a bit wider. So you could go up to around 15.5-16:1.
