Engine Air intake heat shield

    I want to wrap my intake any suggestions on what to use. I recently picked up a new filter and heat shield now I want to wrap the actual intake itself.

    You have the 98-02 stock intake manifold right? I've personally never heard of someone wrapping the intake so I can't say.

    Thermal wrap, I'm thinking about doing the same to mine because it absorbs a lot of the heat from the engine bay.

    Yeah, but the 8th gen intake mounts in the front, so there's not really any heat up there.

    Theres heat everywhere in the engine bay, no matter where your intake is. I can put my hand in the fender well where my wheel is and its warm in there.

    But the freckin intake itself doesn't even add any real HP, just engine response.

    So then whats the point of a CAI vs SRI, don't people get a CAI for cold air? Because cold air is denser your going to get better response with a CAI. Same reason people get thermal gaskets for IM's because it blocks out heat absorbency at the manifold.

    It's a frekin Corolla, just put on the intake, wrap it, and enjoy your HP increase on the butt dyno.

    If you have a SRI, you're sucking hot air with or without a wrap. A CAI makes sense, and even wrapping that. But a SRI only has a few inches of pipe anyway.

    but thermal wrap its cool but it will dissolve from the heat, just checked my wrap on my exhaust and its almost all gone, weird yet funny....

    Did you even notice a difference with the stick manifold being ported? I'm guessing it added so much JDM horsepower yo that it caused the muffler to blow straight out.

    Im sorry sir but it let me to golds post when i clicked on the alert....

    When i did port the exhaust and wrapped it, i also installed a K&N drop in filter, had the N1 welded on and cut a big hole on my resonator to make my stock intake a CAI and did notice a faster response pickup, dont know how to explain it but it was worth it.

    And yes, it was so much power that the insides of my exhaust flew out into traffic.

    but those mods do increase "throttle response" but aren't true HP perse.

    here, Use a 120mm saw hole bit and make sure you go through all the walls. When i hook up the car to the computer it says my intake temp is the same as the outside temp so i guess its good

    and this will make your filter box dirty and full of junk so i would say clean it out every week but i think its because i drive alot on the freeway....ive found dragonflys to bees.
