Nice shots mate. The more I see that front lip, the more I want one, haha. Interesting what you've done with the tail lights. Dare I say, it almost looks a bit like an Opel at the back now. Keep it up [IMG]

Well today i got stuck into restoring my front bumper after 2 many side swipes
And taking the front bumper off was as easy as i thought or what the fukcing hanes manual said ( stupid peice of **** , roll you up and smoke you).
    anyhow heres some pics
    [IMG]
i used a combination of power sander with 120grit to get rid of the ruff stuff and some clear
    [IMG]
and so with the front bumper off i could see what to do with the resonator box , what a peice of crap it just sits there waiting for nothing, so i ripped it out literally after the bolts were undone you just got to grab al pull with all your might and bang it comes out .
    all primed [IMG]
    then came the paint
    [IMG]
heres a pic with out the rsonator
    [IMG]
and this bumper support dont look the same as the other side, its all twisted, is this normal , anyone else come across this before
    [IMG]
and all done just drying [IMG]
and then this hapened the clear bubbled a bit so i dabbed it to pop the bubble and then sanded it only to take the whole thing off all the way down to the bare plastic
EPIC FAIL so dissapointed in my self, any way i know how to fix it and its only a small section
    [IMG]
    all back together again

Nice work, a shame about that small imperfection though. Yeah that resonator box is a piece of crap. Was glad when I ripped mine out. You should route a CAI in it's place ;). I can provide you with a DIY from when I did mine if you want.

As for that twisted bracket, that occurs when someone tries to undo the bolt under the bumper. The bolt gets rusty and doesn't want to undo, so the whole bracket twists instead. The same thing happened to mine when I was removing the resonator box, so in the end I just manoeuvred it out.

    Here's a pic:

wow so its not just me , i was going to put the filter and a pipe down there but since removing the resonator box the intake pie picks up air from there anyway so the car now pics up colder air anyway , and the car fill so much more resonsive now too

You keep paint around that exactly matches your car? Nice. I wish I could find some. My color is so rare and stupid.

yer i just went to the auto shop Auto1 in Australia they mix paint there and gave them the code mine is ( YHD) and they mix it up. Your code should be on your build plate inside your engine bay. As you spray the first coat it appears to light, cause of the colour of the primer underneath, but as more coats go on it appears darker and richer. This was done all by rattle can, ive always used it and you learn the technique to get it even.

That's cool... I wanna get my whole car repainted after I do the front end swap so I'll see if I can do that also. I'd do it now but the paint is so faded on my car that if I rattle-can it, it would stick out like a whore in Olive Garden.

Haha, sounds like mine. Since I got my sideskirts painted you can kind of see that they're a slightly brighter white than the rest of the car when looking at it in direct sunlight. I was going to respray my mirrors, but they'd stand out like dog's balls.

I would try rubbing a Meguires Clay Bar over your old painted surfaces as it will remove grit and dirt in the paint work that makes the car dull, try a section near some fresh painted section to see the differences, ill be hitting my front guards again then polishing them up after a week or when ever it stops raining

Oh I clay bar my car every 5 washes or so. I have a whole method and setup I use when I wash my car. It just that the person who owned it for the first 9 years didn't take care of it. But yeah I know all about the clay bar those things are insane lol

Just a small update , ive started getting rid of all the blue inside my car, first was the electric blue seat covers,
    from this
    [IMG]
    to this
    [IMG]
the old one's stiching was coming apart and that fake airleather stuff disintergrates over the years from sweat and dirt goes abit crusty and hard.
Plus im over the whole blue thing, next up is the pedals maybe go back to the old rubber ones or find a decent set of silver ones aparently is200 ones fit, ill have to take a look.
Also i know your not going to like it but before you comment , would you have the balls to do it i painted my stockies green

That's a nice looking steering wheel, and the rims aren't too bad except for the fact that your car is blue.

Yep, the Lexus IS200/Altezza RS200 pedals fit. I've got some on mine. The best part is that they actually slide over the pedals like the stock ones, and the accelerator pedal uses a split pin, so none of them ever come loose like a lot of the aftermarket pedals do. Corollas came with two types of accelerator arms - One that had a bend in it and one that was straight. If yours has a bend then I'd highly recommend getting one that's straight, or else the pedal will move back and forth when you put your foot on it. Anyway, if you have any questions when the time comes just let me know :)

Here's a couple of pics of mine:

yer i know im starting to get over the green wheel thing, i might just paint them the same colour of my bonnet or the car, to tell you the truth im lots as to which direction i want to go with the car, i thought i was going more jdm racer but then i thought she was lacking some real colour so i painted the wheels green, but now im lost. I rang around to get the wheels widened to 8 inches about $175 a wheel that would help with some more flushness but id need to lower it more and i dont have coilovers. i dunno .

And why you want wheels like that on there. They scream "look at my car!" but then it is only a Corolla so people laugh haha.

do you have a problem mate, did i just call your peice of shit (is-slow300) just a supra wannabe, if people laugh at my car do you really think i care , i laugh and joke about it , but it's my car my style i dont follow trends nor do i start them. People got to start thinking out of the square a bit more instead of being to scared to try new things, if it works great, if not try something else. So if your going to bag someone else ride take a look at the heap your driving first and make sure there's nothing that stands out cause your going to get criticised.
By the way by the looks of your sig you drive a bland buisness womans car and its an auto (fail)

mate, actually I don't have a problem! I think you took what I said out of proportion or too seriously or something, because I definitely didn't mean for you to get hurt about it.

But there is certainly no need for you to be immature and say untrue things about my cars. What I said it true. Your car is just a boring old Corolla with flashy rims. I know because I had a Corolla once. But mate, I like your car a lot, just not the rims! And you are following a trend. You are not the first to paint old rims a flashy color.

And yes, I've took a look at my car, and there is nothing that stands out. Nothing laughable.

And if you laugh at your own car, then why you so hurt by my comment? You say that you try new things, not afraid to be different, and if it works great, if not, try something else. All I'm saying is to try something else mate.

And you have no experience with the IS300 because it was not sold anywhere except here. You got the IS200, which has significantly less power and is definitely slower. But trust me mate, the IS300 is a lot faster than your Corolla, especially with an auto :)

And there is no reason for me to keep wasting my time on your ... never mind. Have a good day.

Personally I don't think we should look at anyone's ride as "just a Corolla", as each persons vehicle is a representation of themselves. Regardless of what sort of car it is and/or how common it is, I think we should respect each others tastes and preferences. I may happen to think that green wheels look like shit, but if you like it who am I to judge? Lets all get along and put this whole misunderstanding behind us :)

I don't want to add fuel to the fire, but both Australia and New Zealand also got the IS300 ;). I do however agree that it has a lot more power than a Corolla, although the Corolla was designed for economy, so it's like comparing apples to oranges ;)

lol, I thought you said that it was called the Altezza .... I think you know what I meant lol.

And really, sure I wrote "only a Corolla", but I didn't even mean it coming from me. I was saying that's what other drivers who don't appreciate the Corolla like we do would think "only a Corolla". Sorry it came out otherwise. Hope you both understand.

I don't want to add fuel to the fire, just put out Grinder's fire!

Look back mate, I never said one thing negative about your Corolla. Just trying to offer a fellow Corolla owner some advices! I never deserved all that poisonous comments you made that came out of nowhere and are simply incorrect.

But I want to apologize for leading you down the wrong path and making you feel bad about your car. I DO like it, and I want to make sure from this point forward that you know it :) I am always happy to see people loving their Corollas and taking care of them. Because like I said, most people don't appreciate it and think it is "only a Corolla", an economy car like Scott said.

Oh, we got the RS200 Altezzas which were the equivalent of the Lexus IS200. There was no Altezza RS300 equivalent of the Lexus IS300, but the Altezza Gita (liftback) has the same engine as what's in your car. Hope that makes sense, lol.

I think that's where to the confusion lay, for me at least. It seemed strange coming from you since you were (and probably still are) a hardcore Corolla fan/owner, but now I know you were saying it hypothetically in regards to what other people who have no knowledge of Corollas might say, it all makes sense :)
