    ????

and if im not mistaken all A series engines after 89 have the 7 rib block, and i would assume the larger wrist pins and mains. the latemodel 4age in the mr2 and ae92 gts have an almost identical bottom end to the gze (pistons for sure.... how about the oil squirters?)

turbo4age, you're right about the higher compression in the 7A block, I just can't remember what it is. One guy was trying to tell me that it was really high like 11:1, but that doesn't make any sense to me. I'm SURE that it's low compression since I know several people with this setup running a turbo, but I don't know how low.

I also think that all of the later block had the oil squirters.

the GZE and the high comp are the only motors in the us to have the big bottum end and 7 rib. i have seen a NA mr2 with a 7rib but im almost positive the motor had been replaced. im pretty sure that the 7a with GZE pistons will not work because of wrist pins so i dont see how they could say stuff of about 11:1 in anything but theory.

turbo 4ag- i've got a turbo'd 4ag now- 85 hatch with T28(read sig). thats what i meant by havin your milk.

ae92's are high comp btw- so the pistons are different between them and the gze's. high comp and a small turbo works well sometimes too- no lag but have to be very careful of detonation. just a lil thought i thought i might add.

not all ae92 gts's are high comp.... it changed in 1990....... the 7 rib came out in 87.... supposedly some ae86's even got the 7 rib.... my 87 mr2, which had the factory motor, had a 7 rib.... my 86 mr2, which had a japanese motor, had a 5 rib..... my smallport in my ae92 is a 7 rib.... the 4afe was a 7 rib block as well (the old ae92 motor)..... and my gze is a 7 rib.....

Yes, they will fit. The thing is, there are lots of differences between the years, and it's not even cut and dry. You'll have to pick up what you can and if it's not going to work, then do some more research and get the right ones. But I'm nearly 100% sure that the GZE pistons will fit in your 7AFE. I know a guy who has done this several times, if you want I'll give you his email. I'll have to search for it, so if you want me to then email me a reminder.

yep..... though, 87 mr2's are a little different.... latemodel 87's some came with bigport redtops..... some came with 7 rib bluetops.... 87's are very strange... wish i had paid more attention when ripping my 87 apart..... but mr2's are weird.... toyota did strange stuff to them.... like 85's got rear swaybars, and 86's didn't.... but toyota added struts with the link attachments until they ran out (and many mr2's only got one side of the other with an attachment)....
