I know a guy who did his swap for around $8,000. Although it was on a Celica, it still had an "A" series engine which Corollas carried. I'm pretty sure 98 Corollas still had "A" series engines. Here's a pic of the estimate he got for the work:

    3S-GTE in a 98 Corolla?
yes, it has been done before and i've seen it in person,
500hp 98 Corolla build by EL Prototypes, here is the picture.

oh.. also, 98 corolla has 1ZZ-FE engine, so it's not A series.

Crap...one moment i hear 98 Corollas had 1ZZ engines, then theres a debate stating that they didn't come with 1ZZ, and now you're telling me that they came with it. Oy!

Anywho, since it's a ZZ engine series. Look at it to be around 10K. It's been done on a 1ZZ-FE Celica who's pushing more than 500HP on the 3S-GTE.

Edit: Oh and if you do end up getting it, traction issues and torque steer are included free of charge.

    bout 10k :p

at least that's what toysport charges. A 3sgte would be pretty tough because not only is it a 2.0L, but also, it's a completely differnt family, meaning lots and lots of fabrication. I don't know much about this, hopefully someone else can answer this for you, otherwise check out www.toyotanation.com/forum

yea some ppl have told me that I could have a 3SGTE engine in there but that it would take a lot of money and shit........I was gonna do a 2ZZGTE swap or just keep the 1ZZ-FE but they won't hold much boost or not at least as much as I'd like lol but thanks for the info man

1zz will probably "hold more boost" than a 2zz..

in the US the 98+ all have ZZ motors.... across seas in other lands, this isn't true... some came with A series motors, some came with ZZ, and some even came with E series engines

that being said.... from what i remember reading on corolla-racing.com about someone who was doing it in a post 97 corolla.... there's only 1 mount that needs to be fabricated....

in an effort to reduce confusion, maybe we should all start calling cars by their chassis codes instead of production years. zze110 (98-02 chassis) had a ZZ series motor. 93-97 ae101 had an A series motor.. see the trend?! GO speedRAcer go!

ELP corolla looks ghetto. Looks like the radiator is barely hanging in there. Just, the setup doesn't look right. Also someone posted "ELP" was mad at corolla owners. Well due to lack of advertisement and doing things right, that is there own damn fault.

wasnt' trying to be an ass.. my point was.. we here at vvti.net have NO DIRECT experience installing the 3SGTE in a ZZ corolla..

    the blind leading the blind.

that's why i have no advice for anyone on this thread. because i have no idea what this swap entails.. i could tell you what OTHER people have told me, who also haven't done the swap, but have heard of other people who know someone who TRIED to do the swap...

    you get what i'm saying?
