i had similar problems, i ordered my LEDs from v-leds.com
and...i had to force the bulb in, and it worked o_O
but then again i recently bought a pair for my license plate bulbs and the one on the left side doesnt fit through...i think i might need to sand it as well. good idea. haha

3157 32 LED taillight fitment problems

Well, I bought a set of 32 LED 3157 dual intensity bulbs for the taillights and they don't fit at all... I can make them fit, but it's a pain in the ass. First of all, the bulb base doesn't fit in the socket because the wedge bottom is about half a mm too thick. The bumps and ridges match up though. I'll either have to sand the bulb base down with a grinder or drill out the socket or both. Secondly, since it's a 32 LED bulb, the diameter is a little too big. It's about 1 mm too big for the taillight hole. I'll have to grind that out a bit too. What a pain. I thought they would be PnP. I even took measurements of the clearance beforehand. The bulbs really weren't what I expected. I hope the output is worth all this trouble.

you got the wrong type of LEDs. lol
this is why i recommended v-leds, they sell HIGH POWER/FLUX SMT ones, which are brighter and lasts longer.

btw, if u do decide to buy from them. theres a promo code to get 10% off. the code is miata

Thanks, I'll take a look at them. Do you use their LEDs in your taillights? I'm all jaded now. I don't want to waste more money. LOL :D

i wish there was the posibility to have individual LEDs ingrained into the tail lamp. Like A g35. That would be the shit but would risk ruining something like that?

Length isn't the problem. It's width.

Anyways, I bored out the taillights and socket. I popped them in only to find out that the stock halogen bulbs light up much brighter than the LED bulbs. I can barely even see the LED side lighting up during the day. The halogen bulb I can see fine. Too dangerous. FAIL... Complete garbage and wasted time and money. A superflux LED retrofit is the only way to go.

yeah, my friend says it does the blinker flash thingy because they are LEDs and ur car thinks that its not gettin enough power through, so acts that way. but LEDs just doesnt absorb as much power...cuz they are....LEDs lol. i think theres a way to stop the blinking though, but i dont want to. i like it all fast and look like its on steroids =D

and if u do order, dont forget this!

Ok. I ordered a bunch of stuff from there. I spend some time reading over the descriptions, led guides, and fine print. Seems like a reputable company. I can't wait until my REAL leds get here. LOL :D

If you have dark housings, you should get v-leds HFR 3 watt led bulbs. They're made especially for those.

The 3rd brake light is a 921 bulb. The dome light is a DE3157.

Yes, they're PnP and no modification is needed.

I just popped them in and they are BRIGHT. I can see them really well during the day and they come on instantly. Red bulbs through a red lens makes the color a really deep true red. It looks sexy. I also ordered a dome light, but v-leds sent me a pair of red 13 led 921 bulbs instead. ??? But instead of returning them, I'm using one as my 3rd brake and the other as my trunk light. I got a deal since the dome light was only 11 bucks and the pair go for at least 14. I ended up ordering another dome light. I hope they actually send me a dome light this time. LOL :D
