    i thought the price of the XRS corolla is something like $17k american (if you convert the canadian dollars price)
    $3k more for:
    * 40 more hp
    * 4 wheel ABS disc brakes
    16inch alloy wheels
    tire pressure monitoring
    power moonroof
    front strut tower bar

    To me, doesn't sound like a bad deal for all that. I wish it would come with crappy rims.. no sense in paying for alloy wheels when I'm going to swap them out anyway.

    this vvtl-i engine keeps losing horsepower and torque. first it was 180hp, now 173 and now 170. at least the peak torque is around 4200 rpms.

    Yes I know, but the issue was which car was faster. The tC will be a better daily driver because of the available torque. But if you own a 1ZZ-FE powered vehicle, then you shouldn't be complaining. A 2ZZ-GE is basically a 1ZZ-FE until it hit's "Lift".

    Toyota dropped the HP to gain torque. I think I heard something about them re-doing the ECU in order to do this.

    they didn't drop the hp to gain torque. they dropped hp because they are trying to a cleaner running car ie. the added air pump. i personally don't mind because stock to stock comparison show the new xrs will be better.

    ...its not bored out, that would mean a bigger displacement than 1.8. It does have higher compression pistons though.
