    alpines are +++ it comes down to how loud you want it to be and how much you are willing to spend. my uncle has one no-name sub and amp (300 rms) but seem to be louder than my 2 p3 fosgates (500rms).

    i personally like jl and fosgates for some reason... but they are expensive.

    Alpine Type R. Best bang for the buck , IMO. If not, I also like Polk/MOMO. I'm thinking about getting a 10" Polk/MOMO to replace my (blown voice coil :() Arc Audio 10". Just go to www.crutchfield.com and do some research on 12" subs.

    I would go with some 10" inch Kickers and buy a good quality amp.

    also take into consideration the box you will have.

    SQ = specifically ported
    vibrator = sealed

    i figured this out because my uncle has the same speakers i have. but i can feel his bass upto 5 cars away. im thinking this is because he has a sealed box. correct me if im wrong with that.

    dont get me wrong tho, when you sit inside my car, you can turn the volume up until the whole car shakes.

    and so it comes down to: do you want attention, or do you want to hear the beat?

    its a sealed box, and each chamber is also sealed. its 1 box, but has 2 chambers for 12" speakers. I bought it from Circuit City for $120 I think.

    werd.

    You can pick up a JL W3 for ~170 on ebay. Buy a cheap 300 watt amp and you'll have a system that will blow those best buy systems out of the water.

    I think you have it backwards. For Sound Quality (SQ), meaning tight, punchy bass, you'd want a sealed box. For SPL, meaning loud, boomy bass that you can hear for blocks away, you want a ported box.

    Good SQ subs: JL W3, JL W6, and the Adire Brahma
    Good SPL subs: Alpine Type R (in a ported box), and the Kicker L7

    Good SQLsubs (meaning sound quality and SPL:( JL W7, and the Image Dynamics ID MAX

    Search eBay for each of these names to find them for good prices.

    lol... i went to the other forums i go to and found this... mr 94, you are right sir.

    "
    sealed:

    Pros:
    * easier to build
    * more forgiving when errors are calculated
    * higher power handeling

    Cons:
    * to get the output comparable to a properly tuned ported enclosure, the sealed enclosure will require ALOT more power and the enclosure itself will be MUCH bigger.

    Ported:

    Pros:
    * less power needed to acheive higher volume
    * sound quality can still be achieved if the tuning has been calculated and constructed properly

    Cons (if not built and tuned properly *which happens ALOT*)
    * loss of control of subwoofer
    * loss of low bass extension
    * errors are magnified if calculated wrong "

    Get a Polk/MOMO, Alpine Type R, or Elemental Designs. Personally, the more I look at eD, the more I like them. Their stuff is actually pretty freakin' cheap compared to other stuff, and it's TOP-NOTCH quality.

    okay, it seems like i have to replace all of my speakers since i blew them out (lol)

    i've already got Infinity Kappas for the rear deck. If someone can recommend me some front door speakers please let me know..

    im gonna hold off on amps and subwoofer because some of the wires i need for the amps are really expensive

    I would install some MB Quarts for the fronts and rears. Something small like 5.25". Are you going to dynomat or insult your front doors? You'll have fun doing the front speakers :)
