I hit a deer in my 99 on Tuesday morning and it was totalled.

Insurance actually gave me a good chunk, I found an 01 S and picked it up yesterday.

Nice upgrade, I like how it looks! Color matched door handles/trim, black mirrors, side skirts, looks really clean, nice!

Yea I'm alright. It's an Auto. I would have liked to get a 5spd but it's hard to find a clean S let alone 5 spd.

Does anyone know how to let down the back seat. The pull tab cable in the trunk isn't there. I took the cables off my 99 to put in the S but I cant get the back seats down to swap out the hardware.

I have both auto and manual....sure driving the manual is sweet but there are time when you wish it was an auto...

OK this is not going to be easy, but its 100% possible as i converted my non foldable S seat to 100% fold down....it wont be 40/60 anymore, unless you cut the fabric but it would look weird unless someone sows it back together for 40/60

You have to pull off the fabric on both seats, and use the black S one on both the 40/60....ill take pictures later of my setup but it pretty much looks OEM

i knew i should of done a DIY when i did mine....yea that guide is very helpful.

you want to remove the black S seat cover completely off the cushion, so you only have the fabric....

And you have both 40/60 folding seats side by side and you throw the black S fabric over both of them (with the old fabric removed from the 40/60 seats) like its a 100% folding rear seat....

Ok, so you used another seat and put the S fabric over it? I was thinking HARD about how to make the stock seat work.

Using the stock S seat to fold down wont work, just swap fabrics. Its very simple

Got it, thought I was slick by getting the cables off the old one would work. Wish I would have known I needed the whole seat. Maybe I can find out what yard it's going too.

I had also been curious, seems like just putting the cables on the S seat would work, just pull them both at the same time to make it work? Or do the S seats not even have the folding mechanisms?

S seat does not have the hook shown on my pictures to lock it

S seat is just foam and anchors

S seat has no hinges n hardware, also non mountable since its just foam

S seat is lighter. But if anything the 8th gen needs more weight in the rear.

It's weird. You can go too stiff on the rear very easily and it will kick out during things like trail braking like a mofo. A bit more weight or downforce (even the TRD lip spoiler helped a lot with this) and you will have better all around traction.

Contrary to popular belief, snap oversteer in a FF car is a bit tricky and not very cool especially if it catches you off guard.

I prefer throttle induced lift-off oversteer. Much more predictable and controllable

Bosses never lift off the throttle. That is the scariest one with stiff swaybars.
