Best Struts for Tein H-Tech's - 01 Corolla

    So i bought some Tein H-tech's for my car and will be getting the struts soon. What strut do you guys recommend for these springs? This is my daily driver, that isn't really driven around that much right now lol

    Well, the Tein H-techs don't lower much at all... maybe an inch, so you should be good on OEM shocks, or step up to KYB GR-2.

    yea I don't want it to be really low because it's a daily driver and I have a body kit.... trying to decide between Tokico's or KYB's lol

    What does a body kit, low and daily driver have anything to do with each other? I've got a body kit, slammed, and daily driver, and there are no problems. I say more low!!!

    OH, and either of those shocks will work fine.

    ha ha ha ha... most of the streets in So Cal aren't the greatest. All I know is the front wouldn't last.

    Tokicos are better rate and last longer. Up from that that are koni yellows

    Tokico is more performance based KYB GR2's are SLIGHTLY above OEM grade.

    I run Tokico Blues and H&R right now, and I used to run the same springs on KYB GR-2s.

    Tokicos are much more comfortable in my opinion. They are the best choice for a daily driver, IMO. Tokicos have a much better build quality than KYBs as well. I had to ditch the GR-2s because the rear swaybar endlink bracket BROKE off under some mild cornering.

    I had 5 years and 15k miles on the KYBs (fail) and 4 years and 15K on the Tokicos (still going strong). Go with the blues

    16x7 +45mm on 204/45/16. I rub in the back when there are people in there. The only way to run wheels on this gen without rubbing or rolling is to get a +47mm offset for the rears.

    i have 15's, offset is 40. The rear tires of my car have always rubbed whenever I have someone/something over 30-40 pds in the back seat. It even rubs without people in the back though, if i'm on fwy going high speeds and there's a slight dip in road the back will rub lol
    I always thought it was something wrong with MY car since the previous owner flipped it; car did complete 360 and landed on all 4's again.

    how you guys have so much rubbing? Mine was 17x7+40 205/40/17 lowered 2" and I never rubbed and never modified the fenders.

    Yep, you guys have at least 5mm (IIRC) more clearance between the wheel hub and the fender, horizontally.

    i'll look into rolling the fenders... thinking of maybe not putting the lowering springs on the back.

    You would have negative camber without an alignment, alignments fix camber silly goose.

    Yeah, negative camber is teh sex... so it stays. Just like you have negative camber. Just like everyone who's anyone has negative camber LOL

    redrolla, you need matching springs front and back so that you have compatible spring rates. There is 0 benefit to using only the front H-techs lol.

    lol its all good... just looking to reduce the front tire/fender gap. I don't mind the way the back looks right now. :D

    I agree, the front always looks higher than the back, to allow for the tire movement during turning.

    What about Monroe's?... Has anyone used these with Tein's?
    I replaced the rear struts on my car w/Monroe's last year.
