cutting springs, anyone done it before?

Okay so you all know im a cheap ass.

My mate (mechanic with mechanic brother) has offer to cut a coil off my springs to lower my car. I think its a bit toooooo dodgy and am in doubt on whether i should do it.

    Let me know your thoughts.

    peace.

He seriously said that to you? He shouldn't be a mechanic. You're right about thinking it's dodgy.

Its not safe at all, the spring can pop out of the perch it sits on and the end can peirce your tire and then your fucked, however in the front sense the strut retracts into the hole it might be less likely unless you go off a huge pot hole, none the less its not safe. Do at your own risk.

out of ALL the things you do to the car, suspension is one place where you should never cut corners. glad you realize it's unwise. save up for a good suspension set.

i did cut my lower spring "only" on the front about 10inch starting from the top to bottom and i havent had the experience that my spring pop out of the perch,i mean the only way i could think is only if you ramp hills or go over bumps super fast. the only annoying about cutting spring its very bouncy even alittle bumps or pothole makes the car bouncy and hanging turns is not a good idea. after 3months i upgraded to groundcontrol w/tokico blues.
