I'm going to replace my clock with a www.matrixorbital.com RED LCD screen that I can hook to my CarPC to display realtime OBD2 data. I think that it will rock.

I like your switch idea but the Rainbow color scheme on the buttons has to go :) That is unless you swing that way ofcourse. Also if I was going to do that mod I would take out the ash tray and add the switches to the front of it so you could still pull it out like a drawer to get at all the wires. Anyways its a cool mod I have not seen before so mad props to ya.

I've been wanting to change my clock to red also... I have this stuff at work called rubylith, it's a red plastic film used for making positives for screen printing. I am going to see if I can put that over the clock display. Craft stores have colored film also... If someone wanted to do a different color. I'll try it out today and post results. Painting sounds good too, but that would be my second choice.

    Made the clock red...

I tried that rubylith stuff... It worked perfectly! It's like static cling so it sticks to the plastic. I pulled the clock module out of the trim piece. Then unscrewed the 2 screws in the back, uncliped the 4 clips, and opened the module up. Be carefull not to lose the buttons, they are loose once you take the lens off the module.
Then I just put the rubylith on the inside of the smoked lens, it stuck right to it. Assembled, and it matches the instrument cluster perfectly! Here's a picture...

If you want some, just PM me with your mailing address and I'll send it to you for free! It's cheap stuff, we hardly use it anymore, and what's 37 cents? Anyone else who wants it PM me... I'd say it's the perfect stuff for the job if you want it to be red. Matches the 01-02 S instrument lights perfectly.

you'll need to use LEDs for all of these namely 3mm LED's. you just need to open them up. the defroster is easy to open just unscrew it from the rest of it and open it up. you'll end up with the circuit board on my pic. then follow my directions to replace them. The AC is much harder but look at what i wrote

^^ if you are talking about the single bulb in the console shifter, the easiest access (which is not all that easy) is to remove the center console and then the bulb is closer the the opening where the console was. Twist the socket to the left to remove. Bulb is a wedge type that pushes in. Console removal is 2 bolts in storage are under cloth cover and 2 screws near front on sides.
