Anyone ever do a rear disk brake conversion on an 8-gen Rolla?

The parts for a AE101 are supposed to bolt right in (if you can find them).

I bought the complete kit from Shyguy. He had a showcar corolla in Canada. I don't know where he sourced it from.

If I were you, I'd go with Dr Tweak's conversion kit. It uses '95 Celica GT rear rotors. All you'd so is buy the $30 dollar rotors and have them redrilled for 4x100 at a machine shop. If you get em from the ae101/111s you'd end up like me, I have to buy replacement rotors @ $200 w/o shipping.

You might want to get your brake pressure valve replaced since you wouldnt be applying the optimal brake pressure since drums require less pressure to work optimally compared to discs. Most people don't do this tho but I am planning to.

But it's RWD. The setup is different. The donor has to be rear disc FWD.

One model of the Corolla coupe like this photo LINK have rear disc break. Will it fit the 01 Corolla it will be much easier for me to find parts of this car here on the island.

the front disk setup on the car may work out perfectly, ill have to pull the wheels on my dad's wife's car sometime when im bored and take a look

That's the only possible direct bolt on donor. The AE92 GTS.

I'll be looking at it too. The question that comes up is that the on a FWD car, the drivetrain is in the front and powers the front wheels. Whereas the rear is just trailing. You will have components from the front that won't work with the rear. It could be possible though.

Anyways I say AE92GTS rear setup will work best. It'll bolt right up to the strut and and trailing arm. The problem is in the rear control arms. The AE92 have the bushings built on the hub/knuckle assemble while the AE101/ZZE111 have them on the control arm assemblies.

However that obstacle can be easily solve by frankensteining the outer AE92 control arms half + the AE101/ZZE111 inner halfs. Notice 2 out of 4 control arms have a threaded turn buckle in the middle for toe adjustment. all you have to do is unscrew the stock outer half's and screw on the AE92 outer half's.

But you do need to grab 2 more AE101/ZZE111 and AE92 adjustable control arms. This process is all bolt on with no machining what-so-ever.. I think it'll be a good weekend project.

i have a question y cant you just use the disk brakes from an xrs rolla or matrix isnt the suspension almost identical on the 03 to 08 rollas and matrix

Because the the hubs are 5 lug instead of 4. If you don't mind having 4 lug in the front and 5 lug in the back, go for it. LOL You can always swap the hubs for 4 lug ones, but that involves more unnecessary money.

He was referring to the 9th generation Corolla, which had a 5 x 100 bolt pattern.

the idea of use ae92 components seems like it would make acquiring parts difficult

im really digging this using a corolla front brake components to bolt onto the rear, im totally going to take apart my drum setup this week if i get bored

o yah lol i forgot the rolla came with 5 lugs i guess thats out of the question. what about an early gen celica didnt most of those come with 4 lugs

1986-1991 Celica's had the same bolt pattern

as do the 85-89 mr2's witch fastbrakes.com sells a rear brake upgrade for, that may be the way to go

whats in the way the control arm?

I've been talking to Dr. Tweak. The setup would cost 500 bucks + shipping.
