If it is a 2.0 or 2.2 its still enough of a difference to create a pretty noticeable lag. And boost will cut off earlier too. If you get it cheap, sure why not. But if your serious about doing a really good turbo setup, look for a K03 that come off the 1.8T VW/Audi motors. Thats the perfect size for a Corolla.

WRX's are 2.0L. WRX STI's are 2.5L. 2.5RS are 2.5L. Get the turbo, it's cheap. If it don't work out for you then you could always sell it to someone else at a higher price.

Be careful with that. I remember talking with two of my friends who are WRX owners, and they mentioned that the Corolla's engine is all-alluminum, and the internals of the engine may not be suitable for forced induction like a turbo, especially stock. But heck if it works, let me know. lol My friend is selling his too.

I'm pretty sure IHI makes the Subaru turbocharger. Isnt a WRX 2.5L though??? With the Corolla 1.8 or 1.6, that turbo will be 'just a little' big.

A WRX is a 2.0L. It should fit. I mean the thing isn't huge.

I'm not sure. It might, but I bet the internals are better equipped to handle it... I dunno too much bout it. just some insight.

    Bladder Master,
Really? Cool, I need to find some of those posts then. I want to turbo the XRS as soon as I get it.

it has nothing to do with what substance the internal parts are made from - hell Ferraris are 100% aluminum  - it's all about what kind of abuse they're designed to withstand. the aluminum internals of a WRX are designed specifically to withstand boost. The internals of the corolla engine are not.

Is that turbo bigger than a T3/T4??? I have had my turbo kit since 1/7/04 and haven't had any problems with boost as of yet. It will hold up as long as you dont push the boost too high. I am on 5lbs to be safe for now. I wouldn't go over 7lbs though.

You can turbo a rolla. Dont have to change any of the internals. The engine alone can hold up to 300 hp. Now the tranny I think it can hold around 200. Talk to the guys here that have turbo rollas. Its been done already.

ge head swap on those is a bitch, and kinda pointless from what i've read. and btw, i've seen turbo kits for the 7afe on ebay all the time. I remember one old member (rg94yota or something like that) was selling his, not sure if he ever sold it.

IIRC, Toyota has stated that the 1ZZ block can handle 300hp.

what about the 7afe with stock internals what can that engine output? because I've been interested in doing the turbo kit that includes a T3/T04 Garrett turbine (ball bearing is what I want)....but I want know some more about the K03 turbine...if VW/Audi 1.8L's come with that then do they come with front mount stock intercooled systems or what car would it possible to get on from...since I have an engine close to 100,000 miles on it I would like to build a custom turbo kit and probably do a 4age internal head swap unless i wouldnt have to do that...

The engine can handle the power gain...It IS the tranny though that is a little suspect. With only 5lbs of boost, its still too much torque for the tranny. For those of you that are going to do a tranny swap, I would suggest looking into making it a little stronger first. My sycnchro's are going out in 2nd b/c second pulls so hard!!!

You have to be carefull with 2nd gear, b/c it hits hard!

turbo 1zz's are a dime a dozen. there are a lot of turbo corollas and celicas out there especially under stafford's kit. they can run totally stock safely up to about 9psi.
