    ZZE110 Swap...

Not planning on doing this anytime soon, but just out of curiosity, what would be a decent engine to swap into my '98 Corolla (for N/A purposes)? I've thought about retrofitting a 4A-GE Blacktop w/ 6-speed in, also thought about doing a 2ZZ-GE. Any suggestions, ideas, comments? Just throwing the idea out there.

3S-GTE if you can afford it. 4A-GE is the cheaper method.. but not a lot

I've been trying to do my homework on this. Looks like it could be easy, yet it could also be a royal pain. Any other thoughts, suggestions, maybe dares to do the swap? :)

if you can do a 3sgte swap successfully, i would give you mad props. i've heard many things about dr. tweak but i have yet to hear a successful swap. i too tried it once.. i gave up and put a 2zz in.. and then a few month later.. car crashed and totaled.. so i bought another car and back to stock again.. whoohoo..

In order of highest difficulty and highest power first:

3SGTE (225 to 260hp, custom mounts, axles, intercooler setup, wiring, a/c and p/s lines, etc)
2ZZGE (180 to 190hp, custom mounts, axles, wiring, a/c and p/s lines, etc)
4AGE (130 to 170hp, bolt in swap, bolt in axles, custom wiring, a/c and p/s lines)

The 3SGTE is the most worthy swap but is also the most difficult. If it were my car, I would not swap anything other than a 3SGTE. That engine will enable you to destroy any other swapped Honda or turboed car that is close to stock, and even keep up with STIs, SRT4s, and so on when you modify it. The other engines are nice, and they are an upgrade, but after putting all that time and money into a swap, driving away with a 160hp 4AGE silvertop just seems... anticlimatic.
