Your thoughts on a 95-99 Maxima.

Hey guys. Im still undecided on what i want to do. I go back and forth between staying with my 95 rolla or sell and get something else. If i did sell the corolla, and got a FWD car, i would probably look at the Maxima. It has a nice 3.0 V6 with 190hp and 205tq. They make performance parts for it also, its a beast i know that. Im just wondering what your thoughts are on it. The 95-99 body style is simular to the body of a 93-97 corolla, so its simular to my car now.

    Give me your input, thanks!

Cool. Im looking more at 97 and 98 models probably. Just to have the issues of first releases fixed. I was looking, and for like 1000 or less, you can give the car a good 30hp gain. Doing the exhaust, intake, and the Variable Intake Manifold. Those are the big restrictions in the engine, those mods alone give it good power gains.

The only thing that I can offer is that Nissan engines and the Maxima had known problems with the timing chain tensioners (noisy at first and $$ to repair) The one thing that I dont know is if they have this solved on these models.

My first Japanese car was a Nissan, and then I discovered Toyota.

Check it out complete because we all know the price for Japanese parts and service.

My buddy just got a 96 se and it is a pretty damn fast car. Hauls ass through all gears because of the massive torque. I like it

Friend has a 99 Maxima. It's REAL fast. Loads of torque, but I can easily keep even in my 2003 Corolla 5-spd ;)

Gas mileage sux if you have a heavy foot. Not too great if you don't have a heavy foot. Not to mention that 91 octane is needed for this engine.

I have a 99 maxima in the family and its a beatiful car for fwd. Loads of power and one of the best motors in its class. There is a good amount if aftermarket support for them too.
