    wtf fluffy primer

I primed my car today because i am repainting it and the primer came out all fluffy.. there was actually like fluffy clumps of primer stuck to the car and blowing off the car. Anyone know why?

yeah it must be the mixture.. not dirt or water.. its one part reducer to one part primer mixed together.

probably when you sanded the car down, you left dust on the car. or maybe even water.

actually - this can occur when you dont have enough thinner in the primer. The primer dries to quickly (as it leaves the gun) and you get 'primer bunnies' (dust bunny lookin primer cotton).

If you got this from a can, it could mean 2 things:

    1) you didnt shake it enough
    2) it was a bad mix of primer/thinner in the can

Water leaves different marks, much like a bubble covered in primer - it simply just makes it look like crap - kinda the same effect as fisheye - except it leave patchy holes where no primer stuck. dirt simply gets primed onto the car and can be sanded off - however it will look like ass until you do so, lol.

im using a gun.. the paint is from Brault Auto Supply in Houston.. its PPG paint.. i tried mixing it using plastic cups as measurers and it melted right through it.. so did the reducer.

Not enough reducer... honestly man - just go half/half in the resevior on your gun then shake it up in there ... unless you have proper stuff to measure in... If you spray fluff or it dries to quickly, add a little more reducer to your mixture. You should be okay - I recommend a test spray on some sheet metal if you have it handy. We always tune our guns and mixtures before spray - except the gun god himself at our shop ... lol that dude can mix by feel and look and never gets it wrong.

i did shake it up the gun.. i think the stuff at the bottom of the gun didnt get mixed or something.. it was better when i put it in a glass dish and mixed it first and then poured it in the gun.. it seems like i have been using more reducer than primer because im running low on reducer but still have like half a gallon of primer and they both started out as gallons
