my compressor does not stay on long enough to cool my car it turns on anf off very quickly, the result is my car is not cool, is there some sensor that regulates the compressor or there anything i can adjust to make this work better.

This usually means that you are low on refrigerant. You were the guy with the AE100 so, depending on the year, you probably need that expensive R-12 stuff or get a conversion kit to use R-134a. If not just recharge the car with R-134a.

side note: This site really is intended for the ZZE120 (03+) corolla. You can stay here, but you may not find answers to most of your questions.

Assuming that you own a 9th generation Corolla...

There is a TSB regarding poor A/C performance. I would take your car to the dealer. Unfortunately, the fix involves installing a resistor which would actually inhibit A/C performance in my mind. At least the condensor/evaporator wouldn't be subject to ice.

Also, I've noticed that the compressor cycles on/off more frequently than in my other car. Perhaps it's due to the combination of the relatively small engine as well as trying to promote efficiency?
