Which mufflers are the best for a Corolla???

I would like to get the TRD sports muffler for my 2000 Corolla CE, but I feel the price tag on it $320+ maybe a bit too much for just a muffler, since that's what it is. For a $100 or so more, I might as well just buy the full cat back exhaust system, right? Where can I find some? because I have yet to find any of them at all. Also what mufflers work best on a Corolla, I'm looking for a nice deep sound, not something that's just loud and obnoxious. Any particular brand and model, you people can suggest out there??

100 bucks on a full cat-back, you are dreaming.

My piping cost me 100 bucks, my muffler was another 100.
I have a APC Intimadator muffler on my car with 2.25 inch piping from the resonator back and its loud. But it has a nice somewhat deep sound

i think he meant 100+320 for a catback... but ill tell you right now- if your looking for the sweetest sound without being loud, TRD is the way to go...but you can also get an ebay muffler w/ a silencer and then itll be a little louder, but not much...which defeats the whole purpose you want to get a performance muffler in the first place- many are obnoxiously loud...

    ^^^ care to explain???

i'm using a turbo muffler (2.25" inlet/outlet... with a chrome tip) and 2.25" piping from the cat to the muffler.... to have that done including the price of the muffler/tubing, and the cat (2.5" high flow) bolted up and have all the mounts remade to fit with the new motor cost me $220 (including tax) on a saturday... go in the weekday, it's cheaper

    lol

that's funny...about the price being SOO LOOOW. i can easily get a full catback WITH high-flow cat for $150.

but that's if i bring in my own muffler.

I think theres a few good exhausts that u can get if you're lucky for around 350$. either brand OBX or Alpha Werkz. I think both are same brand. they sound nice but just a bit loud without the silencer on.

Man you people get on anybody for anything and chew them out!! Maybe it wasn't put into the right words in the 1st place, but what I meant was the $320+$100 more atleast for a cat back. TRD= $320+ or so, and a cat back
= $420+ or more. Does that clear things up? No I wasn't dreaming. but aren't dreams good? Anyways, sure proof reading helps, but sometimes you don't notice a mistake you make, until it is caught by another person...

go dyno it...ill bet u wont make more than 1-2hp. So jus keep the stock one cuz the power/cost ratio is wak. When u start making power...remove the cat all together.

its been on my car for about 2 yrs now and ive never once had a problem with it

    it allows for more airflow.

it does "do shit" for the motor, but you can't FEEL it.

i have the OBX cat-back and header on my 93...sounds nice (low pitched at idle, higher when i hit about 3500 rpms to redline, but not too high pitched). only problem is that you might occaisonally run into problems with the fuzz about it.

i got the catback for like $350 from www.ssautochrome.com keep an eye out on ebay too...they have em sometimes. if i find any other sites that have em (i know i've seen a few that do) i'll post it up here

i got my obx (forza tuning) for about 265 shipped on ebay..but its fairly loud...im telling you- just get a custom job- and get a performance muffler off of ebay for like 40-60 bucks w/ a silencer-then all of your problems would be solved..

I like it a lot, I was really worried that getting a muffler would make it sound unbearable, but from the cars on this forum, corollas don't sound bad at all.

If I know I'm taking a little trip on the highway, I usually put the silencer on before I go.

if your talking about the OBX exhaust on the freeway it's only bad for the first few days. then you get used to it and its fine. of course i usually drive with windows down and music blasting so i can carry on a conversation with incredible noise levels going on around me.

the OBX exhaust does sound pretty sweet IMHO

yeah, my exhaust actually isnt that bad on highway b/c the rpms generally stay fairly low to midrange....so its bearable, i just wish my exhaust came with a silencer, or that i can get one to fit in the tip...

I have the Fuzion "OBX" catback from ebay and I'm debating about whether I should replace the muffler that came with it. I haven't installed it yet, but the catback doesn't have a silencer and I'm about to go on an 8 hour drive to Atlanta soon.

Does anyone have a name brand muffler w. a silencer that sounds good with their catback?
