    Where to get tweeters alone?

I want to add tweeters to my stock system, just to add a little sound dimension or whatever. the dealer is chargin me like 35 per tweeter, so 70 for the pair + installation. where cna i just get the tweeters alone and hook them up to the stock system? i dont feel like spending money to upgrade my full system yet

Depends what you want. The stock speakers aren't great - if they're the same ones as in the Matrix. My friend has a Matrix with the six speker system. How much are you willing to spend? How much will Toyota charge for the install?

Your best best is to replace the front speakers with components. That way you get a matched mid-woofer, tweeter and crossover.

well, i'm willing to spend up to i guess 70, i dont know. toyota charges like 30-40 for install, i think. maybe more, but they're still a rip off. so if i get the component speakers, is it easy to install by myself, and will it sound any good with teh stock HU, cause i dont have the money to switch head units.

Toyota's install is going to cost more than 30-40 I'll bet. They are going to replace the triangular trim pieces up by the mirrors. The parts alone will be $40 at least. Try to get a quote from Toyota. I'd be surprised if the install is less than $100.

If you go with components, you can do it yourself. They will sound just fine with the stock head unit. The only problem is that your rear speakers will suddenly sound like crap.

Depends on what your long term plans are for your system. If you're just going to add tweeters and do nothing else, then go for it. If you want to eventually have a big system then be prepared to throw them away later.

Honestly, for $70 only, there is nothing much you could do. I also suggest you save up some more and get component.

If you're going with those tweeters you won't have any problems installing. They aren't very deep so you won't have interference problems. Try to mount them like this:

I actually used the stock trim pieces on my CE as opposed to buying pre-cut ones from the dealer. They work great, and look like they where made to be there.
