    Where is the money??

I would like to know....how can we pay for all these hurricanes....nowadays, they're reaching damages into the billions of dollars....and Rita is probably gonna do the same.....

    The most costily....
    2005 Hurricane Katrina - $200 billion (est.)
    1992 Hurricane Andrew - $26.5 billion
    2004 Hurricane Charley - $15 billion
    2004 Hurricane Ivan - $14.2 billion
    2004 Hurricane Frances - $8.9 billion
    1989 Hurricane Hugo - $7 billion
    2004 Hurricane Jeanne - $6.9 billion
    1999 Hurricane Floyd - $4.5 billion
    2003 Hurricane Isabel - $3.37 billion
    1996 Hurricane Fran - $3.2 billion
    1995 Hurricane Opal - $3 billion

....and you kno there been many more hurricanes than that and there are many more to come....on top of all other things we're spending money on, how much longer can the US afford this....i say they need to stop all these freakin tax cuts to make the president look better and start raising them again....

Ladies and Gentlemen of VVT-i, as of September 22, 2005, the national estimated debt of the United States stands at $7,928,245,024,700.....count those comma's, thats not in the billions....$7 TRILLION dollars of debt (almost $8)....even tho those hurricanes are just the icing on the debt cake, its still a significant portion of the debt.....since last year on this month, the national debt has steadily increased an average of $1.54 BILLION per day....the estimated population of the United States is 297,230,304 persons. Divide that into the debt and each US citizen's share of this ever growing debt becomes $26,673.74......note, in january 2001, the debt was at $3.2 trillion....also note, in November 2004, Bush signed into office the bill that limits how much money we can borrow, raising that limit to $8.18 trillion which is...also note, most of the debt began at (1945) the end of :what:II and at 2001 (56 year time span) reached $3.2 trillion, showing that between the years of 2001-2005 (four years) the debt has more than doubled

It is costing us money, it's coming out of our national budget, out of EVERYONE's tax dollars.

Let's get smart here people. Building in an area which can be dessimated by natural occurences so frequently SHOULD wake people up. Either DON'T fckn' build there, or make sure the structure will withstand the weather conditions!

I haven't heard of any of these states implementing manditory non-conventional building codes or methods. I'm sure they do require special structural reinforcement codes, as well as other relative codes. Joist reinforcement hangers or "hurricane clips" can only do so much to hold your roof on.

Maybe these homes and buildings should be Geodesic air/watertight structures.
That doesn't sound too glamorous, but the structures would have a better chance of surviving. I'm not offering any answers, but I'm sure if people put aside their pride and thought about this rationally we COULD find answers.

Until then, we will all be paying out the ass for these disasters. Granted, some things can not be prevented, but let's think ahead damn it.

Pile up all of our tax money.
Let the wind carry it off.
If we only though to put it in a safe.

Where the hell is the link to the how you make money thread? And how am I lying? Last year I grossed $94k combining my salary, bonus and stock sales. I'm no walking income tax calculator but that has to be over 30k in taxes. Why don't you compute it for me? And yes they do make us pay taxes for stock sales because it is considered income too you know. Bunch of haters in the house (actually just a few :)), Plus if you really want to get technical I'm married and my wife brought home 32k last year, if you don't feel that I paid enough taxes factor her into it too. Just because I drive a corolla doesn't mean I'm poor, it just means I like to spend most of my money on other shit like houses, hobbies & computers. I actually feel somewhat stupid that I dug up numbers to answer this. I'll give you one thing, your good at pushing peoples buttons :)

In the other thread, you say you bring home 2k every two weeks after taxes. Im basing it on that. My wife and I bring home a good amount per year, and I know how much tax I paid last year. Your numbers just werent adding up...2k takehome every two weeks would mean you paid 60% of your annual income in taxes.

In this thread, you didnt say you were including your wifes income.

And I dont push peoples buttons....I notice all of the discrepecancies, lies, BS, etc between peoples posts.....when info doesnt match up, Ill say something.

I was not counting my wifes income. I paid over 30k myself. I sell stock every year to pay off debt. I did count that in the more recent thread. Stop being so quick to jump peoples ass and also stop referencing unrelated threads to try and prove someone is a liar especially when your dead wrong. I personally can agree to disagree but appearently some people cannot. Also how the hell did you come up with %60 of my annual income going to tax based on $2k every two weeks. The keyword was take home. I actually take home more like $2400 - $2500 a paycheck. Thats take home, thats after $1000 has been taken out for tax and social security. Get your math straight.

    hehehe :)
